Feeling a bit of a **** now.
I was cutting through the 3mm plywood that form the mini-shutters for the front windows on top of the breakfast bar.
I had a whole newspaper under the plywood sheet.:)
I still managed to go through everything and into the worktop underneath (even though the plywood had not separated at the cut-line)
Deep gouges on the work surface. Oops!
I scraped the tops of the gouges clear of the raised material and then gave it a light buffing with some 800 paper and then a coat of boot-polish and a buff with a cloth.
I did admit to it, as I knew she would spot it anyway. Now she's muttering curses that invoke the "New Onyx worksurface" beast. FFS! Its just a scratch. ;)
Oh BigWhoops!
I have just been reminded of when I put a hot pan down on an ordinary old skool worktop. Well yes, it did happen. So I sympathise.:(:(:(
