I wonder how high the demand is, and if the demand remains, whether LR would consider extending production for even longer?

Got an email oft LRO today saying:
LRO said:
Following reports yesterday that production of the Defender may continue to as late as April next year, Land Rover has confirmed that production will end in January at the latest.

Land Rover has stated since last year that production of the Defender will end at Solihull this December. But the massive surge of last-minute orders up to final cut-off-date of June 26 (when the order books closed for the last time) spurred rumours that Land Rover might give in to demand and continue production ‘at least until the end of February’ and ‘it could possibly go on until April’ according to the Birmingham Post.

In a statement to LRO, Land Rover has confirmed that this speculation is incorrect. ‘Defender production in Solihull is now entering its final phase,’ said the company’s spokeperson. ‘We have not confirmed an end date for UK production, however we do not expect this to continue past the end of January 2016.’
That would suggest they need to continue production to complete the remaining orders. Order book is probably still closed. I was at LR recently on the manufacturing tour looking at D4, RR, and RRS production. I did see some brand new tratter chassis's waiting to go inside the building. Fresh delivery from GKN. Will be back there next month to go on the tratter celebration build tour.

Oh I see. So new ones cannot be ordered, this is to fulfil existing orders! Shame! I was going to contact LR to make enquiries as to my part exchange value?!! Oh well, back to the parts catalogue.....

Whilst at the factory we were told they only make vehicles to order. That's all LR products. Either someone buying or a dealer buying for their stock to sell. If you want one then ask yer local dealer. You may get a betterer response if you go there. Try sooner rather than later. You never know they may have one available. There's a lot of nearly new ones about too. Expensive but it's an opportunity not to be missed. Main dealers with several dealerships will move vehicle between dealers if you want one that's too far away at one of their other dealerships. Well that's out our local main dealer said.

You're right there, it's not an opportunity to be missed! I was looking at an independent, and the prices charged were incredible, mind you, modifications and extras were super sophisticated! It's a brave new Tratter world that's suddenly emerged? I'm in London, I'm sure to see such enhanced and beautified models in the car park alongside the weekday Rangies??
I'll make enquiries all the same... basic model though, not into the flounce....
