Morning All :D
A bit dull & dismal out there today :(
There's plenty to do here though, besides that painting. :)
Yesterday I took delivery of 10 x 13ft reclaimed scaffold-boards. These are destined to be the facing surface of my re-modeled conservatory wall.
We are going to clean them up a bit and then falsely "weather" them wit a wash of muriatic acid (or similar) to make them go silver-grey.
I am already working out the steps I will need to take to remove the double-glazed pitched roof and replace it with a mansard style wooden roof with full insulation and a skylight and an EPDM outer skin.
I need to replace the 2 plastic/aluminium corner posts of the conservatory with some 3 x 3 oak timbers. I think it will be a fun project. :D
Have a great day everyone. :D
Jeeez! Don't you ever give yourself a day off?
You tire me out just reading all this!:D:D:D

Well here the weather has gone a bit miz. So we did the weekly shop and wifey is cockahoop as she found some weird ingredients she will be using when we do an "apéritif dinatoire" on Satday nite, for some friends.
This affo I have to get ont tinternet and move a bit of money then book our ferry crossings back to blighty.:(:(:(
Even when it is cold and wet here, I still like it.
And the prospect of getting back to Borisland fills us with dread.
Stepdaughter's uni is looking at making yet more redundancies, she says that some undergrad courses only have 50% take up.
The Union bar and all facilities are open but she sees very few students around. She will be lecturing/teaching online mainly.
AND she's trying to organise her wedding for next year.
Not looking forward to any of this.
Hope our Christmas hol in the Lakes will still be on!
However we still have a month here to enjoy.:):):)

We've gottid acorns felled ont floor ut wuk. This as got me finkin. Eye would collect up the gud ones and take em home fer my sqwuggle. Put a few oat each day ferrim/ferrer ont grass where its been spottid eatid fings. Shuddunt be anyfink wrong wiv that?

You may even get to see him bury them for later, we had 1 that did that in our garden. Here our red just picks up the walnuts:)

Afternoon folks:)

well the weather has taken a little turn, Wearing jeans and a long sleeve today:(. Discussed today with M about shutting the pool, will look at it for maybe the weekend, that's always a turn and a sign that we need to prep for winter:(.
So all the road going bits have their relevant tests done for another year:).
Off to somewhere new for a birthday lunch tomorrow and it looks very nice, so the weekend starts early:).

Eye noticed several oles dug int me grass and wundered worrit was. Must be him/her. What he/she dun't reelise is eye is plannin ter feed him then slowly change fings. Eventually an ersalt course will be availerbul ferrim/ferrer ter play on before gerrin fed. Always wantid ter do this since eye wur a nipper hippo and seen it ont telly. Next yeers gonner be fun.

And I suppose the bolt diameter is set by the size of the hinge hole.
Wonder what everyone else does? And you don't want cylinders of metal taking up the extra unthreaded space. Could you maybe put another piece of wood the other side of the post? Or as, you said before, you'd have to cut the thread longer which in stainless is not something I'd want to be doing.
Once you've got it all sorted are you gonna put pix up?
Best of luck with it all.
:):):):):)
Yup eye will put pic's up. This be me inges:

https://www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk...nd-ride-hinge-600x49mm-galvanised-pair-170002

The bolts eye need are to replace wot they sent. A small m12 fer the sqwere ole and m6 ter replace the 3 screws they sent. The ook will be screwd ter post but eye will drill the head oat so it can't be undun. Then paint it. The bolts are longer as eye want them ter go frew the frame which is 45mm and flowa buds at 18mm fik.

Wot r u doin to make sure no one lifts the door(s) off their hinges? Welding on a washer or summat?
Or have u alredy sed an I mist it?

No "jim jams or Nighties" allowed/needed here:)
We never even put a quilt on the bed last year:)

...and wiv us, in froggy land, sexy French ones. Int UK, ....no so much!
Why do I never wear anything yet she complains of the cold? To the extent I puts my bum out of the covers to cool off.
Must be a wimmins thing, mate of mine here, in his 80s does exactly the same yet if you touch his wife's hand it's like an icecube.
(And now the floodgates open with what is going on with her hand.:rolleyes::rolleyes:. No she isn't dead and fresh out the freezer! She is just "frileuse" as they say!)

I would expect it to be rather difficult to lift off when closed:)
And not likely someone is gonna come along and nick them when you are there:) with them open.

I think I am thinking a bit of French shutters which are regularly broken into by levering them upwards with a crowbar. Which is why we have taken other steps to prevent it.
Worked pretty well the first time we were burgled, in that they rapidly discovered that wasn't going to be a way in.
We then had a big shutter made to go inside the concrete door way that they did eventually manage to get in through. Tight fit inside it plus three bolts and padlocks into the concrete.
If they want to get in they always will, eventually.:(
But putting a hinge on upside down would slow them down a bit!
In the UK peeps we know have been burgled by scrotes taking an electric saw to the surround to their patio doors. Taking the whole thing out, frame, doors, the lot!
There are a lot f sh!ts about!:(

Eye have 6 inges. Two pointing upwards top/bottom ont each dor. The one int middle will point downwards ont each dor. So it won't take weight but will stop lifting. Eye also plan to put a bolt in the dor which pokes into the post next to it, as it closes.
