Don't forget tomorrow ...

I am heartbroken. Itchy took herself off to die.
We could not find her anywhere.
After a further detailed search I found her where she had hidden herself (between the back of the shed and the boundary fence).
She was collapsed/lying on her side, her eyes were open. I picked her up and she cried and cried. And so did I.
Vet has been contacted and I think her last journey will be at 4:15. I am gutted. :(:(:(

Big hugs, sounds like old age kidney failure, had one pass from that, not nice at all ...

Sorry to hear, as I said earlier, They know and get somewhere safe where they don’t feel vulnerable.
Our Shadow laid down by the coffee table with us, which he never did before.

Hope for good news but don’t think it’s going to be:(

A final update on "Itchy"-Cat.
She's gone. :(
The vet examined her briefly and confirmed that her kidneys had more or less shut-down and that there was no way back for her.
Finding an accessible vein was equally hard as she was in "shut-down" mode.
Here she is as a kitten with her sister "Scratchy" who is now our only remaining cat of the 6 cats we had all at the same time.
I will miss her morning "padding" and her 2-tone purring while twisted upside down on top of my Duvet and enjoying a tummy-tickle and lug-rubs.

It's absolutely heart breaking, I know. 20 dogs and countless cats down the line I still bawl my eyes out as each one leaves us and there's a lump in my throat as I look in the corner where Maddie's bed was, in spite of the fact she's been gone 5 years. Every one leaves a mark on us but human nature being the clever thing it is, slowly the sense of loss fades to be replaced by stronger memories of the good times and the fun they brought us whether it be in comfort during disappointment or a huge belly laugh at their antics. She's still there, Dan. She lives in your big heart.

I feel for you, not a nice situation but at least she is now out of her obvious discomfort. :(:(:(
