Suggestion for next year - as soon as the strawb starts to turn red, pick it and get it inside to safety. I always let mine ripen on the window sill just for that reason. It is a beautiful mornin' 'ere, too, but it is tinged with a bit of sadness as I got up to find that my entire strawberry crop had been decimated by a blackbird. He just couldn't wait for his designated supply of blackcurrants to ripen and I was so looking forward to enjoying the succulent flavour of my one and only strawberry. Even my canines wouldn't have been so heartless.
I've gone back to bed with my cuppa to try to get over the disappointment. I hope your day goes better than mine has - so far.

You are right, I'll learn a big lesson from this devastating event.Suggestion for next year - as soon as the strawb starts to turn red, pick it and get it inside to safety. I always let mine ripen on the window sill just for that reason.
Good luckoff to the Hospital at 08:20.
So it hasn't changed from before?Back from Hospital.
Full Ultrasound scan in depth (Aorta checked end to end and the bifurcation branches) All ok, and not in any danger.
Told to avoid any "heavy-lifting" is all.

Last reading was 3.4cm , now its 3.5cm so it has changed but not by much.So it hasn't changed from before?
It's not like you have been building sheds or anything....Last reading was 3.4cm , now its 3.5cm so it has changed but not by much.
How/why I suddenly notice it so much must be because I am now very nearly a "skinny bastard"
I wish I could say that.I am now very nearly a "skinny bastard"
You canI wish I could say that.
Eye fink a lot of peeps find that out. Some go for the full restore from the beginning and don't realise how much time it takes. Others just want to do certain bits... and slowly get dragged into a full restore. All part of the fun of ownership.Rebuilding a defender is a long and expensive process, the saying "the last 20% takes 80% of the time" is very apt.
Would have been cheaper to buy a new sodding one
Stroke the dog & start the landrover.Warra day, just trying to stay positive
Did the blackbird eat your strawberry crop, too?Warra day, just trying to stay positive
