Not sure if this is standard on a 2006 HSE Freelander. Any issues with this size of wheel? I have only just noticed :p

Yep got 17" on mine as well. I think they were an optional upgrade from the standard 16" wheels.

AFAIK 17" wheels were an option for all/any version of the facelift model.

The 17" Trek wheels were the standard fitment on the HSEs with the 6 spoke 17" Freedom wheels being a no-cost option/alternative.

The LR original size of tyre was 225/55 17 97H (although some tyres were Reinforced/Extra-Load rating 101H)

I like the 17" so much that I bought some extra ones off eBay so that I can have a winter set and a summer set. :D

I upgraded to 235/55 17 tyres which are as big as you can fit without having clearance problems with the front spring cups on the struts.

To fit wider you need spacers.

Likewise. Just out of interest what did you choose as the Winter tyre?

My Winter tyres are Continental Conti4X4Contact 235/55 17 99V - brilliant in both deep snow and green lanes/light mud.

My Summer tyres are Continental ContiSportContact2 235/55 17 99W - a Mercedes-Benz size) - they stick to the road like magic - unbelievable cornering ability.
