So the time has come for me to admit defeat to the tin-worm on my 300tdi Disco 1.:(

But on the plus side, I've found myself a nice Defender 110 Hi-Cap:D:D.

Sooo, Having had a look about the Disco, I know the winch bumper won't fit/look right.

But, I reckon the freestyle alloys avec tyres will go on.
Also why wouldn't the lift-kit fit too? they look pretty similar.
Would the engine be a simple swap-job, the 110 currently has a 19j in it.?

Thoughts/suggestions/mickey-taking.

Pickkys will be forth-coming in the fullness of time;)

Same ideas been going through my head lately if I could find one cheap enough. My plan would be to put all the running gear from the disco on the fender. As yours is a high cap it might have a salisbury rear axle on.

Im wanting a hi-cap you git :(

anyway,

the bumper wont fit as its different mounting holes, it could be adapted but probably better to flog it and use the cash towards a new one.

there is no reason why the lift kit wont fit. Its all the same for fender/disco/rrc i believe.

Maybe Marc7 knows summit i don't(thats not difficult by the way  )

The engine will need new mounts i believe, its not a straight swap. But the 19j is supposed o be a good engine if kept well, does it run and sound nice enough at the moment? why change it if its fine.

keep the 300 and swap it over as and when you need to.

And come on, youve had 3 hours, get the piccies up. You know the rules :nopics:

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist commenting BGB!

Will post piccies tomorrow, when I've picked it up.
It's a light project. Been off the road for a year or so, but chassis and bulkhead are sound.

Disco still has a couple of month's MOT, so I'll keep running that whilst I do the 110.

110 & 130's have different rear springs to those on a 90, D1 & RRC.
Example Terrafirma +2" med load rear springs:
110 & 130: TF023V
90, D1 & RRC: TF019
The shock absorbers and front springs are all interchangeable.

Yes

I think they will fit , but the spring rates etc will be wrong for the 110

and yes

Remembering now. ;)

Bangin.

So I would just need to get a pair of HD rear springs?

Anyone want a pair of HD Disco rear springs?

What a friggin disaster!!

Pootling along at about 50mph, just gone past Gatwick on the M23.

Came to a slight rise in the road, changed down into 4th, and the bloody Disco cuts out.
Coast it to the hard shoulder amid clouds of oil smoke and stuff.
Try to re-start, turns over really slowly.

I'm not getting my 110 today, I think.

Wait for engine to cool a bit.
No coolant, had topped up before I left.
Big pool of oil underneath, but no obvious leaks.

Call Highways agency from one of those phones by the road-side (1st time in nearly 20 years motoring)
Called my mate Phil, he says he's on his way.

Anyway. Up-shot is engine in the Disco Has gone pop, put Disco on trailer meant for 110and return to base.

Arrange to borrow bosses 110 puma Thursday, and try again.

Piccies will follow.

Rubbish. :(

Bad result all round.

You have a knackerd(head gasket???) engine and we dont have any photos :(

Rear springs on a 110 and 130 mount differently to a 90 / disco / rrc, alloys might not fit the 110 if it has a drum braked sailsbury rear axle which it will more than definitely have one, I would love to fit my double cab with a hi cap rear tub

disco springs WILL NOT fit a 110. 110 Springs have a much greater overall diameter as well as having a much higher spring load rating.

Piccies as promised.:D

None of the 110, as I still haven't got it.

Sat at the side of the M23.

Nearly home, thanks to Phil. Stopped in Bracknell for a can of drink.

There are now photos!

And you're right. It is the head gasket, it's pressurised the cooling system and cracked the header tank.
Started it this morning, after putting fresh coolant in and it just blew it all straight back out. getting milky white/blue smoke out of the exhaust, and there's a slight knock from top end too:(:(.
