I'm in Ingol Preston Lancashire

I have a P38 DSE

I had an issue with the compressor (now fixed)

I have a EAS Hard fault (35 mph) I have the eas software and it is reading the faults but it won't let me clear the fault or reset them.

Can anyone advise or pop round and rest the car as the wife needs it to get to her horse twice a day and she had to take a taxi this morning.

Let me know asap

Thanks

Does the eas software not tell you what the fault is? Fix the fault then you'll be able to clear it

I take it that you do not get the green "Good Idle" with the EAS software? When you connect, do you get the beeps and the Slow 35mph message? I guess you get a list of conflicting faults which means there is no communication so you will not be able to clear whatever the fault is. If the problem happens to be due to corrosion in the OBD connector, you will have the same problem with a Nanocom.
What version of windows are you using?

I hate to say it, but compressor failure is usually due to leaking airbags.

Hi

I've been chatting with Storey Wilson from RSW Solutions and I have the wrong lead as the off the shelf model won't work. The connections are OK as the plug was bad.

On another note

I have the SDD JLR software from car tool but the software won't communicate.

Does the ECU carry the VIN number or the BECM

CHEERS

Only dedicated p38 diag works ie the blackbox solutions stuff the jlr t4 and a couple of others but don't do all systems the diesel's are harder to diag than the petrol as afew generic readers will do the engine,
P38,s are not old compliant

The VIN number is held in the BECM.
Unless you have the lead for the Classic which will not work on the P38, there is only one lead for the P38.

Thanks for the help.

I've ordered a lead to help with the EAS program (recommended) and hopefully reset the fault. Will the same lead talk to the system if I use the right software for everything else?

I would like to have my own equipment to get it sorted.

On another note what's the best way to fix a leaking sunroof as I have tried to clean the drains but haven't had much luck. Any help is appreciated as I'm getting water leaking in plus the scuttle panel vents need the foam replacement as it's leaking there as well.

Thanks

The EAS cable will only talk to the EAS, I know that as I make and sell them:cool:
For the rest, you need a Nanocom www.blackbox-solutions.com

The scuttle panel foam wont stop the water but will stop muck blocking the drains, the pollen filter covers are a known problem take the covers of and seal round the hole with self adhesive draft excluder and put cover back, there are a load of screws in the scuttle that need sealing round as well.

Replace the foam with perforated metal, lasts forever. I can give you a link to the stuff I have used if you want.

Thanks for all the help

Please can I have a link for the perforated metal.

I'll also look at the pollen filter and the screws

Any idea on sorting the sunroof?

Thanks again

Oddly enough, the water via the foam seems to be worse if I park it uphill. That foam has been on my to-do list a long while now!

I've changed the seals around the pollen filter as suggested as the filters were wet through.

I also rodded the front sunroof drains (I can't get to the rears) but the leaks are at the front) so hopefully the car will start to dry out.

Any suggestions on a source of material for recovering the roof panel as mine is now knackered.

The scuttle panel is next to address

Thanks for all your help
