Hi All and happy new year.
I have a Land Rover Freelander TD 2.0 2005
The engine light came on so I bought myself a diagnostics tool and 2 errors came up, can anyone advise me on fixing these errors
P1643 (CAN) link engine control module/transmission control module circuit/module malfunction.
P1602: immobiliser/engine control module.
Then I also noticed when I unlock the car and open the door occasionally there is a double beeping sound this is not all the time is this normal or is this linked to P1602?

Many thanks
René

The beeping means you need a new battery in the remote fob.

Others are general codes for comms faults and don't help diagnose much. I would clear them and observe. Report back with any symptoms on engine performance and new codes.

Hi,

What are the symptoms except the engine light ?
Could be anything, check the engine bay, pay attention to turbo hoses that can be pierced.

Hi Andyfreelandy
Thank for the reply
I will try replacing the battery's again.
I have cleared it a few time and the same codes come up there is no performance issues just some day the engine light will come on and some days not.

Hi Alteredtech
Thank for your reply.
There is no symptoms just that the engine light will stay on one day and will go off other days.
I have had a look at the turbo hoses but just on idle will ask my partner to give it a bit of a rev for me

Kind regards
René

Hi J_D
Thanks, It is a manual what about the engine control could it be a fault in that or lose wire?
I did notice while I was creating the engine over the engine light was flickering almost light there was a lose wire or something.

If the p1602 is also a comms fault then could be bad connection on can bus.
Immobaliser control is under the dash, drivers side. Water ingress can be an issue. Any water in car or condensation build up?

Definitely check the fuel rail sensor plug for corrosion which is a known problem.
While your under the bonnet, check every sensor plug for corrosion.

@J_D I will check as I do have condensation build up in the car Is that the one that is under the cup holders?

@Nodge68 I will do that this weekend.

Many thanks.

Hi All
Just a quick update.
So just after your advice I started have problems starting as the battery was packing up so I fitted a new battery and cleared all the error codes once again and so far I have had no error codes coming up.
So it looks like there was there was insufficient power to start the car and send signal to the engine control module, which I guess would make sense.
Thank you all for you help.

Kind regards
