Ok so I've just put a discovery 200tdi into my 90, every this has gone well except for the electrics!!!
I have made sure my engine block is earthed to the chassis right next to the engine mount.
when i swapped the engine i kept the old starter motor, the power cable from the starter goes from the batter to the starter and also has 2 brown cables attached to it from the loom..
I then have the little white and i think red wire that goes from the loom onto the little spade connector, if i hold a multimeter on this spade when some1 tries to turn over the engine it only reads 5volts, i thought it needed to be 12..
No blown fuses at all..
When i go to turn it on i get all the lights on the dash except the battery light, I think this is because I have put the thin brown wire on the alternator to the letter W....
the two brown wires are together on the alternator and go to B+....
I got a long screw driver and touched the two parts together on the starter and it whizzes around so the starter works..
Any ideas before i set the thing on fire? :violent:
Also before i removed the old 19j engine I must admit that i did undo more than just the loom wires and I haven't got a clue where they all go...
I guess I'm a little screwed.. lol
thanks in advance!
