Defender11069. Nice black colour. It that black gloss ? One coat or couple ? I am assuming it is synthetic paint.

Tactical. Nice satin Skoda sporty.

Lol good bargain !!! I got ex military 90 defender in camo. Wanna rub down and paint like yours. Then eventually add 20@ tdi engine in as it is 2.5 n/a. One coat. Amazing. I am sure gonna have a go -). To the annoyed missus lol

Well thought I'd best add mine, this is my old ex-mil 90 repainted with a roller

you do get loads of funny looks from the neighbours but turns out ok

I have just rolled my second coat, going to let it cure for a week before I cut it back with a DA to get rid of the orange peel.

Well this thread inspired me to do this to mine last summer. Few strange looks from the neighbours but it was worth it!

Having painted a few Landrovers before with the roller method, the one I have just painted has bad orange peel, so bad it looks intentionally textured, I put this down to the paint being thick, no, actually it was I had the wrong gloss level paint, heh, I never read the label. So I am the thick one, ordered satin and got semi gloss, the whole truck is painted now the buck is OK, but the doors and wings look **** even after wet sanding back and buffing with a DA. What the #### do I do now? Rub the doors and wings back and order some spray aerosols mixed to semi gloss and respray or rip it all back and start again with SATIN this time? Any ideas, lol, as I am about to have a melt down, never had so much hassle painting a Landy before, paint reactions, striping back to the Aluminium, hours trying to get the shot blast sand out of the buck, six weeks of this **** and now to discover the ####ing paint was wrong. Even the new indicator lenses I ordered were the earlier type so I spent ages "removing" the glued in old ones, oh the blue LED dash bulbs were for a TD5 model, and to top that off some chequer plate bit behind the rear wheels don't fit because I have a 100 inch Hybrid so the buck is no standard length AND #### ALL FITS EVER!!!! I know, I know, I am a dick........ thanks for listening:boom:

Oh and I don't know what sort of Defender plastic arches I have but I needed a new rear one, got a new one, and guess what.......Jesus I though owning a Lotus Esprit would be a pain in the ass

Hi there, iv been looking at your post on there and just had a few questions if you wouldn't mind sharing the answers. The green series 3 88 looks amazing, as well as the blue one, they both look like a professional has done the job, well pretty close, i was just wondering what paint you used, gloss i presume, but oil based, water based or did you use synthetic? also did you do that with a roller?:jaw:! also did you mix a little bit of thinners with the pain or use it as it came out the tin? Also am i right in thinking the colours are bronze green and marine blue? sorry for all the questions, im just very interested in what your doing to these land rovers as they look really good!!!!

thank very much, Tom:D

Hi mate.
I used gloss and a roller. Close up you can see a slight orange peel.
I always use synthetic because it don't react with existing paint and dries quickly.
All were painted outside.

okay, cheers for that, much appreciated. i will use the info on here for my next one because i don't have a work shop to spray. well to be honest its never going to be perfect aslong as its not all over and very obvious it dosen't bother me.the green one and the blue one look very good tho. thanks for the advise tho mate. :D

Great thread!

Just about to embark on re-painting my Tithonus. Are the new Wolfs a different green? Or are they just Satin rather than Matte Nato Green?

Ok, so after 2 months, it's done.
