Hi all. Those are some really nicely done paint jobs. I did my 1989 110 a few months ago in matt black. 
It started off looking like this:
Used a cheap painting machine jobby by Bosch (ZAR1400 about 130 GBP). I just flatted the existing ugly cream coat and etch primed the bare ally in places.
The paint flew out of the machine in globs and I thought I would have to have the whole lot professionally done. :doh:
I ended up with a wierd sharkskin textured finish but gave that a light sand and then finished with clear laquer.
Added a bit of your favorite, Mammouth 4x4 checkerplate, some refurbished deep dish alloys, etc etc.
Seems okay, definitely unique here in Cape Town, South Africa.

I think you missed a bit

I painted my disco last weekend with a 4inch foam roller, Asda sell 2 harris ones for £1.50 and they done the job really well, when you first start rollering you do get a few bubbles, but if you just roller over them a couple of times they go away.
here's a couple of pictures of what its like in Satin Nato Green. I've still got the roof and the bumper and side strips to do so will post the rest of the pictures and the finished thing once its finished but if anyone has any doubts or lives near me in birmingham and wants to see what its like just give me a pm.

Looks good mate. I look forward to seeing the finished product.
the pictures arn't the best because I didn't wanna get paint all over my iphone but once I've painted the roof, bumper and side strips this weekend I'll take it somewhere and get some better pictures before I take it offroad and scratch the hell out of it, but if that happens because its rollered on I'll just get the roller out and paint over any scratches lol
just wish i had the week off work so I could mess about with it. Roof is going to be satin black along with the bumpers and side strips, the wheels I'm leaving in their standard gloss black paint at the moment, but might paint them green like the body.

I used a sander on mine, 120 grit 1st then 500grit to finish, ive never bothered with primer on any of mine.

I have sprayed a few in the past, but that was when I had a workshop, I do them on the drive now and don't have a comp/spraygun anymore and don't want to upset the nieghbours

I sanded mine using a corner detail sander and 240 grit paper then finished with 400, 2 coats of paint later and its looking good, but I just want the weekend to arrive so I can finish it lol.

I also watching this thread with interest as well, be good to see a finished disco.
I had a word with my dad last night and he's going to paint the rubbing strips for me today whilst I'm at work which should just leave the roof for me to do all being well on Friday and if the weather is good there should be some photo's uploaded over the weekend once the paints dried.

See, we get this incredible phenomenon here that we call 'the sun', I hear it passed over you guys a few years back.
Dunno how hot it will get in a black roofed 110 and I aint about to find out.
