Can someone tell me how to change the brake discs and pads on a 93 209tdi please as I can't find a how to guide anywhere

Try looking FFS theres a full writeup on here and it was posted on lessthan an hr ago. try clicking new posts.

Remove wheel. Remove half shaft, remove caliper. Remove hub nut 52mm. Remove hub and discs. Place hub on a steel wheel to undo the 5 bolts on the back side of the disc from the hub. Place new disc on hub tightening the nuts up carefully to make sure hub and disc sit straight then its just a case of doing everything backwards!

Why remove halfshaft???

tis just remove wheel, caliper and then hubnuts and hub. surely??

I'll go sit in corner thought he had 300tdi :p

noo he's got a 93 209tdi so presumably he meant 200tdi IIRC on older landies the halfshaft is attached to the drive flange but on 200's and 300's the drive flange is splined and slips over the Half shaft.

Ok that's awesome but I've never owned any kind of 4x4 or any landlines so if I take calliper off all I need is a 52mm socket to remove the hub?

This is what is staring at me at the moment

Are your axle stands under the trailing arms for the axle?

If so move em as that is not a load bearing part. Stands should be under the axle or on the chassis

You should be able to slide off the drive flange (bit with the 5 holes in it) from there you will see the 52mm bolt. Undo the first one the. Remove the lock washer then u do the 2nd. The hub should slide off with the bearings and then Remove the disc retaining bolts at the back. Grip the old disc in a vice. Get something like a bit of wood in a wedge shape and use that to separate the disc from the hub. You need new locking washers for refitting.

Take the circlip and washers off, then pry the drive flange off.Hub nuts will be visable, flaten the lock washer and undo the hub nuts. Then the disc will be free to come off.No need to remove halfshafts. Oh and get a smegging hanyes:)

FFS I did have a look and couldn't find it and the thread start many hours ago lol

Any who thank you to everyone else I went and bought me a pair of circlip pliers and I will get Haynes the half raids are ordering me one.

Did you find the thread tho.. ?? If you did it was good advice was it not?? :D

Nope just spent another 20 minutes looking and can't find it - I think it's harder than the actual job of changing them
