Hi,im about to get some work done on my dse auto,4 shocks(boge) a rear hub seal and new cooler pipes, possibly new cooler, how much should i be expecting to pay for the above works? its a local busy garage and has been recomended to me,im just too busy to do any of it myself and need iy done pronto, thanks in advance.

I am no expert - But I would suggest a days work to a good Mechanic.

So figures of the top of my head:

8hrs @ £60p/h = £480 plus parts obviously

Got my oil pipers and rad done for £80 labour I had parts...

Should be about £80 for all 4 shocks....again supply parts...

Dunno what a hub seal is...??

Good luck!

The job to replace my gearbox oil cooler pipes cost me the best part of £1000. After that little escaped I'm going to attempt to replace all 4 shocks (Boge) water pump and thermostat myself just to try and claw back some of the funds I had allocated for other jobs.

Dave.

Did that inculde parts?

Yes it did include parts, two new pipes, new cooler, new gearbox filter and oil. It didn't help matters that they had to take the box out because one of the unions snapped off on top of the box.
I think the real lump in the throat came when they pointed out the front and rear discs and pads needed replacing (this I new), the fuel tank pump was shot(this I new) and whilst the tank was out they replaced the brake pipes that run up behind the tank. £600.00 later!!!!
I know its all just wear and tear items on a 10 year old car. Hopefully she will see another 10 years

God I love my P38
