I am well happy , it was 96 and now I can tow a carvan, shame I FOOKIN HATE EM!!!!

lol :p

Some one who passed their test after june 97, this is what they can tow.

Category B: Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM (eg P38 2.3 tonnes) and a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM

So a P38 with a caravan, with the car and trailer weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes.

get the car and caravan set up for your hol's and then take it to a local weigh bridge, most will weigh it for free if you ask them nicely, get the print out and keep it in the car, remember if the combined weight is over 3.5t you need B+E, no matter what car and caravan you have.

I have just sold my P38, because of this reason, weighed up the cost of changing my car or putting the wife through a test, went for the cheaper option, gone P38, hello V70 AWD

This is what we go by, current plod on bikes!!

Don't listen to people who say you never get stopped and checked, you do, VOSA and feds do regular checks, and VOSA carry mobile weighing plates.

Actually having re read the offacial bumpf. and given that the mam of a 90 IS 5900KG and all other landies arre well over 5tonnes MAM. does this mean that ya can't tow any trailer at all with a 90/110/disco/RR??? on a noobie licence..
