hi all how many miles shiuld i be getting out of a tank full of diesel in my 200 tdi csw 90. 1991. at the mo im getting 230- 240 miles per tank at 70 mph on motorway is this norm .?. a tank full is £42 ish . 42 ish ltrs . cheers
 
why dont you work out the MPG? saying you get 240miles is pretty worthless because we dont know how in the red you are before you re-fill. If your doing 70 i think (my opinion) that the gearing is not suited for this. I tend to stick to 60/65 on the motorways. i can squeeze 270-280 out of tank. this is approx 28mpg. But i do drive conservatively

That is pretty much bang on what I get as well.
 
My td did 120 miles yesterday and used about slightly less than half a tank.

clearly tells you there he is getting 230-240miles to a tank full which of 42L
 
possible factors to bear in mind..how its driven ,what type of tires you are runnin,how laden is the landy..all theese will contribute to less mpg

Unfortunately a full tank is 60ltrs so A: £42 ish doesn't tell us anything

And B: 42ltrs is only 2/3rds of a tank.
 
Costs me near on 50 quid to fill up and I get round about 300 ish miles on it.
That's when the needle is just touching top side of the red.

I get about the same based on filling around the time the light starts coming on - I worked out my MPG and reckoned that I was getting about 33mpg and thats clogging it a bit.
 
yes im putting 40 - £45 to fill tank up from bottom of red . but getting 240miles for 45ltrs is about 24 miles pr gallon (if im right) driving at 70 so i suppose ok ish .
but do the fuel tanks hold 60ltrs then so faulty gauge then i guess . its just a pain to stop and fill after 220 miles when inlaws live 250 miles away. how hard are they to bleed restert if u run out of diesel
 
Go to a local garage and fill the tank until the pump won't let you put amy more fuel in. Then when your gauge is showing about 100 miles go back to the same garage and the same pump. and do it again. That way you'll know exactly how many litres of fuel you've used. then all you need is a calculator.
