As I am going to great lengths to stop my new doors from rotting very quickly, I'm considering what to do about a spare. I don't really want to hang a spare on the back, even on a wheel carrier. I've had the 90 for ten years now and never needed the spare.
How long have you gone without a puncture?
 
Fender never had one

other cars we seem to get 3 - 4 a year

still not sure i'd stop carrying the spare - Paddock's swing away wheel carrier is a reasonable pricee and very solid
 
1 leaking valve, and I carry my spare in side against the tub bulkhead. They do get rotated every 6 months, though.
 
About 2 years ago on a country road - by the time I could stop I had run flat for too long and the tyre was knackered.

No phone signal on O2 or EE either, so I was really glad I have a spare!
 
Just finish changing uj's on prop saturday eve. Went to give it a test run and the rear started hissing. No spare of that size, misses was out so couldnt get to tyre shop, so had to swop all 4 wheels from sick landy to this one. first one though in 5 years.
 
Never had one in the Landy, it's used about 50 / 50 on and off road but doesn't clock to many miles per year.

The MINI has had two in the last 12 months - unlucky I guess as I can't even remember the last one before that

You can run an odd size in an emergency [many modern cars do just that with space saver spares] :)
 
Never had one in 20 odd years of landy driving. Very little "extreme" off roading though.
If I'm not going to need the load space for a while I move the spare off the door and fix it against the bulkhead.

I had a wheel carrier for about 7 years, the type that bolts to rear cross member, body capping and to the door. I've found, even closing the door gently, a small shock wave would run through it. As the door aged this seemed to help it fall apart.
A thinner steel wheel and tyre up against the bulkhead sound a good option.

20 years without a puncture knocks my ten into touch. Take some beating. :)
 
No punctures on this Land Rover yet, and that's after nearly 30,000 miles. My tyres still have Devonshire air in them from where the car was bought. The tyres are BF Goodrich All Terrains.
 
I had a blow out after fetching something new years eve from Aaronmorris (nipped out and didnt tell the mrs so karma bit me on the ass) Didnt have a spare either so that screwed me!!

Haven't had one since so only 8 months and counting!
 
If you'd just 'nipped out', the you weren't really 'out out', so the Mrs should have been Ok with that :)
 
Since I changed from tyres with inner tubes to tubeless with was about five years ago I have only had one puncture. That was a serious blow out on the motorway coming back from Morocco after crossing the Sahara.
It's Murphy's law, as soon as you leave a spare behind you will need it. My spare has been on the back door for at least 18 years with no problems. I have a bonnet fitting but don't like the restricted view.
 
What's a puncture?! Used to get them now and again, even with a Discovery, but since Defender ownership I'm on 3 years and counting.. Always carry a spare though, just in case.;)
 
And I'm still looking for someone that has fitted a Front Runner bonnet spare wheel carrier to their TD5. Anyone? Sorry for the slight thread hijack.
 
My spare has been on the back door for at least 18 years with no problems.

A door that's lasted 18 years. :eek:
