I wouldn't have believed these could be fitted by mere mortals if I hadn't taken them off myself. Is there some technique to it? I can get them so they look like they're in the right place but you can't see the clips and I've been struggling for an hour or so to try and get them to snap in. I've tried it with the clips fitted to the body and with them fitted to the trim. Either way seems nigh on impossible to get them to line up.

i didnt see such thing in that video cos the new clips on the trim are not supposed to be removed from it ... did you discard the old spring clips?

And just like that, they went on. Tried again this morning and they both went on without a fight. Amazing what a good nights sleep and a calm demeanour can do.

I can see from the pic that what you have done to the back end is pretty radical and why there is your thread regarding rear hubs, or rather front ones on the rear!
Pics of that would be nice!!:):):)
 
I'm having the same issue as the original poster. But have been unable to do it after sleeping on the problem. I wouldn't part with my Disco 2, and would hate to have to replace it. But, I just cannot properly re-fit these A-pillar trims.
The video doesn't show whether there is any gap at the front between the windscreen and the trim. The man also throws away the old spring clips.
Can someone tell me please whether the spring clips are no good after they have come off, and so should be replaced? I'm also wondering whether my actual trim is deformed, as when 'fitted', I have in places a 1cm gap between trim rubber and windscreen.
Also, is there a knack to putting this back on? Did those who have succeeded here do it as shown in the video with the plastic rivets first then the spring clips bashed in with a mallet? I found that by doing it this way, there was no way that the spring clips would engage. The only way that I could get the spring clips to fix was to put the bottom spring clip in first then work my way up, but well I've not got it back on properly, so maybe I'm going about this wrong.
Any help is appreciated.

There should be no gap.
 
Also, does anyone have a photo of which way round the spring clips go? My situation is that I had a windscreen fitted through my insurance, to find that the fitter didn't install one pillar trim correctly (none of the clips were affixed), he left holes at the edges of the gutters, and he didn't install spring clips at all on the other pillar trim. There followed leaks into both footwells.
I ordered a new set of spring clips (and rivets) but since I didn't take the trims off, I can only estimate which was round they fit.

Throw it back at your insurance company, it's their responsibility to put right the job not yours
The trims are a proper pain and designed to push you to the edge of insanity.
Leaks coming through the screen are also their responsibility.

You are absolutely right, but there are a number of factors which put me off doing this:
1. The fitter is in Inverness which is 120 miles from where I live. It doesn't bother me that they'd have to make the long trip, just it is not easy for me to, and I don't have time nor motivation to, successfully pressure them.
2. They didn't actually give a warranty. The fitter said that they don't usually do this with Disco 2's, because of rust, but in my case I'd get a warranty. No warranty came through afterwards and when I queried it with the company (after endless time on the phone, with e-mails ignored), I was just told that my e-mail was my warranty.
3. It is 18 months ago.
4. They are cowboys and I don't want them going near my truck again.
So, I just thought it easier to recify the matter myself.
 
This is how I found them when I took mine off - a picture of an original clip as fitted at the factory, still attached to the frame. Hope this helps.

I just had a windscreen replaced and I used national windscreen. they left visable gaps int he sealant around the top corners so I called them back to do it again. THe same people came out and did basically the same thing until I had to step in with a ratchet strap to apploy more pressure to the top edge. THe pre installed top rubber seal causes issues with installers as you need compress it down unlike most screens.

Also, I did not let them install any of the plastic trims as they would no doubt do a shoddy job. I found the clips on me replacement A-pillar trims to be pre installed backwards as others have also found. What a palaver!
