llay101 suggested Mr Muscle.
Works a treat, used it on mine a few time, stand it in an old washing bowl or similar, squirt to your hearts content (oooh eh missus) leave for about an hour, then clean out with warm water.

Didn't Somone suggest oven cleaner somewhere? I haven't done the td4 yet so haven't got this problem

Yes they are ok.

I used Mr Muscle foaming oven cleaner and it didn't work. I used dishwasher powder and it didn't work. I used petrol... and finally it worked very well! Use a bottle brush but expect LOTS of high staining black spray everywhere.

Just don;t lose the little rubber spacers where the bolts go. And clean out the sensors bolted in the manifold too.

Always good practise for new gaskets. Although occasionally I forget to buy new ones....

After trying Carb cleaner, then soaking in Gunk, I broke out the pressure washer, connected it to the hot tap and hey presto, one very clean manifold.
