Hi folks. Im searching to make a 4.6 engine of a p38 work in another car but i dont have the becm... Do i need it??? I have the ecu and all other components. How can i turn the engine on from the ecu???

Yes, the Engine ECU and the BeCM need to handshake to start the car....

I am sure it is possible to do it without the BeCM , but you'd have to figure out a way of fooling the ECU into thinking the BeCM has given the ECU the 'OK to start' signal

Convert it to distributor ignition and put a carb on it. Search the Internet and you'll find all you need to know

In fact the becm give to the ecu a code to activate ignition.... so is not just a signal but a code....

Do a search on other sites/Google, I think it's possible to mod the ECU to disable the code but it may have been on the diesel.

Same difference....and I know it is a code - signal/code - it is a matter of semantics!

I think Zen has just done this on his Classic that he's having fun with. Have a look in the engine section - pretty sure there's a thread on it.

it can be done..

2 companies i know of doing this..

aussy one mobilize..google
or all car electrics in the uk do same/similar..

they did mine..its going back for a refund as first time didnt work, second time started twice now dead..dont want it sorted again..lost faith in it.

fitting megasquirt now..which would be my advice to you...then you can tune it too!!and no need for diagnostics..so works out similar money but with so much more..

if go megasquirt USE efiextra..no one else (if in uk)..phil is excellent!
