Well…. after sorting out the sticking caliper and ensuring the steering wheel was on straight(it wasn’t) I ventured into St Andrews to a local wheel and MOT ‘specialist’ for an alignment and MOT. As these were separated by a couple of hours I used the opportunity to visit the barber, have an extended tea break in a posh bar, mooched around ‘The Toon’ and managed not to spend too much money. Returning to the specialist later on I had a feeling of dread and that was realised when I was informed that the Freelander had indeed failed the test… on a front marker bulb… on asking if that could replaced… it was…. And I had a ‘PASS’!

Anyhoo after some ‘you’ve done a good job there’ and ‘what? It was in your garage for 4 years’ kind of conversation I got the keys and then taxed the car using the 11 digits on the V5 I had brought with me. I was feeling a little ‘heady’ at that point.. mostly brought on by disbelief methinks! One thing to note.. NO SMOKE AT ALL after starting the car up last night.. and none at all today. The car drives superbly (since the alignments been done) and performance is adequate for what it is… the main thing no ‘stutter’ on start up the car settles into a steady rpm and it runs beautifully.. for a diesel at least..

Have to say thank you to anyone who has read any of the posts I have uploaded regards this car and also those who gave me sage advice on the way. Literally saved £100’s just being a member of this awesome forum. Plans for the future? Well yes. Firstly to get some daily use out of a car that has cost me more time than I want to think about but taught me more than I could ever have learned on an easy project..(this wasn’t my actually project more like a needs must/fixing last week!!)

I still have to tackle the front end as this ‘phase only included everything to the rear of the bulk head (+ -) That will be done piece meal and not on axles stands for 2-3 years!! I am a very happy chap.. not least I will be able to drive myself to work and not get a 2.25hts bus journey there.. an back (plus two taxis)

Cheers
