My hill descent switch has broken off.
Seen lots on the ebay
Question is if I replace the switch which seems to come with the hi-low range switch on the same bit of panel will they have to be set up/synced with a computer or do I just unplug and re plug the new one in.
Same question also for the twisty switch for the ride height.
Also I want to change the light cherry wood or whatever it is over to a darker wood and I’ve
seen some that come with new heater controls and again are they just plug and play
Sorry to be asking stupid questions but the last thing I want to do is pull it all apart and then have to spend loads of dosh having to have everything synced

No synching required I believe, just un-hook the battery for 20 mins prior.

Earth off first and last on.

wouldn’t have thought of that,I would have just pulled the plugs and swapped them over
That because I’m used to classic cars,so very little electrical problems other than bad earths

Just to be sure modules (computers) have gone to sleep, that's all,
I've tried lulaby's and extra milky hot chocolate but what's really required to be sure is waiting 20 mins then pull the earth.

Do NOT disconnect the battery until the red LED on the SATNAV unit in the boot goes out or you will wipe the firmware.

No it wont, hasn't on mine and I've pulled the battery on a whim many a time and everything still works.

That sounds like a bit of a design flaw!!!

so basically when I decide to do it was going to say
Park it up overnight then disconnect the battery,change parts then reconnect battery and bobs your uncle
But I suppose I’ll have to unlock the car to open the bonnet,so after popping the bonnet wait half an hour then disconnect the battery and crack on

In my experience you can disconnect the battery at any point really, I myself have proved it, but to play safe then open the bonnet, wait 20 mins then disconnect.

You are then free to pull anything out.

Each time either the bonnet, tailgate or doors are opened, the SatNav will wake up, so:

Open Tailgate
Open Boot
Wait for light to extinguish on the Sat Nav
Disconnect Battery

If you are leaving over night, before you do the above, make sure the key works in the door mechanical lock, else you won't be able to lock or unlock the car when the battery is disconnected.
