Another new problem on my 2.5 DSE, it had developed an oil leak from the oil cooler pipes where they join the bottom of the filter housing, fixed with new O rings, then oil leaked from the oil filter housing cap, fixed with a new O ring. Now it's leaking from the oil filter housing base!!
Could this be caused by excessive oil pressure due to a dodgy oil pressure relief valve? if so is it located in the sump? if not what could be causing this??
It never used to leak a drop but oil seems to be being forced out at any weak spot.
Any help much appreciated.

I see you have changed all the o rings around the filter housing, have you fitted a new oil filter as well yet it could be blocked causing a build up of pressure .

No the filter was only changed recently, i will change it again for a genuine Landrover one and see if that does the trick. Thanks.

The oil level was fine before it threw it out everywhere, it just seems every time i fix one leak it's forced out somewhere else.:(

oil pressure test and check breathers if oil is blowing out oil seals

I'm going to change the oil and filter tomorrow and hope that sorts it, i'll check the breather isn't blocked while i'm at it, there's a breather pipe on the left side of the rocker cover, is this the only one?

I changed the filter for an original Land Rover item, replaced the oil filter housing gasket, removed and flushed out the breathers in the rocker cover and so far everything seems leak free so fingers crossed it's sorted, going on a longer trip tomorrow so if it's all turns bad the next step will be to get a oil pressure test.
Watch this space.

Job done. I have used the car for a few journeys and no oil leaks at all, i'm not sure if it was the breathers or the filter but it's not the pressure relief valve which is good.

Oh sorry, i have no idea what make it was, i just bought it from a motor factors.
The genuine one was only £9 so i'll be using them from now on.
