Been offered a 300tdi for £850 with 208k on the clock with 12 months mot only advisory is corrosion on sill. It's had a new clutch also. What should I be looking for in terms of problems or questions I need to ask? Or should I avoid totally.

High mileage is not necessarily a problem so long as it's been well maintained. Service interval for cambelt is 72,000 so getting close to number 3 so check when it was last done.

Other than that it's just the normal stuff.....knocking, plumes of smoke that sort of stuff.

Don't assume the mot is a good indication of condition, esp rust on a disco, check for bubbling around pillars/boot/everywhere

buy it run it for a year for £850 you could always just break it after the 12 months and get your money back, but ask when it was last serviced a good home service will set you back 150 and tyres are ok

Sounds reasonable to me, run it for the year and then see what it needs

Id buy it for that price my old disco commercial I bought for 300 and I had it for a year then sold it with 230k on the clock for 1200
