hi all, my f1 has given me no problems at all had it now for 6 mts,
its a 98 1800 pet, man/box.
just failed mot on emissions co2 at 6*

= cat?
lambada or both ?
can't find any thing else air filter looks clean,
is there anything you can think of or anyone had/got the same problem need it done quick and cheap,
yes i have done a search.and no its not a defender/r.rover/disco had them all nuf said.

they tryed that hippo but said there was no change at all ,
i can get a cat off the bay for £40 or fitted for £73.but the lambada is £73 so realy don't want to fit both.
is there anything else it mite be ?

at a guess fuel pressure/map sensor/air temp sensor/lambda- could do worse than see if you can get it plugged in for live values as it suggests the cause of high co2 is pre cat.

also ecu coolant temp sensor would stop it going close loop if it thought engine cold(rave should have specs)

The common causes we come across with overfuelling on the dreaded K series usually confined to signalling error on O2 sensor/poor earthing. Coolant temperature sensor error or excessive fuel pressure. Check also the solenoid controlling vapour from carbon canister is not allowing fuel to be drawn uncontrolled. Finally check the integrity of the vacuum hose between inlet plenum and MAP sensor.

check coolant sensor first as reading is very high-suspect it isn't going closed loop at all

thanks again but how do i check it take it out or replace live out in sticks not easy to get much out here,
does it have to got on a rover com or?

multimeter and there should be resistance valves at diff temps to see within value.

if it only failed on co then its probably the cat,if lamda passed on test it should be ok

isnt there two lamba sensors on freelander an if it was lamba sensor tester would of told ya i would of thought ya cat is knackered easiest an cheapest way is to ask garage who moted it for price on the work an see what they would charge for what parts then get em yourself

There is no mention of mil light or poor running- which would indicate that with very high co at 6 % that engine coolant temp sender is giving temp below closed loop value at a guess.

i think if system was still open loop the lamda would have failed on test due to incorrect air/fuel ratio as lamda detects the oxygen levels.i could be wrong though.

my 2002 2.5 failed on high emissions, said it was the lamda sensor, but it turned out there was a small hole the size of a 5p piece in the back box,and the smallest amount was blowing, fitted a new back box and warmed up the engine for its retest and it sailed thru

check the back box for small holes, even if very little blowing,my 2002 freelander failed lamda so checked the box,was a small hole, amazing as it is this caused it to fail mot,put new box on and warmed it up,retest sailed thru
