Just found and joined site, apologies to start off with a problem i have with my Freelander TD4 54 plate, For the last two fuel fill ups I`ve added redex to the fuel to help clean the injectors, about a week ago the engine management light came on but then would go off if I dropped the revs. Two days ago it started to lose power at around 2000rpm in any gear with the engine management light coming on, if I stopped then started again it would run for a couple of miles before the problem returned, though would be slightly worse. A colleague suggested I clean the EGR valve which I have now done and put back on and now the old thing won`t start at all with the engine management light staying on when I turn the ignition.

Does anyone have any suggestions or should I be looking to my local garage or would I be better going to a Land Rover specialist for diagnostics.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Welcome.

It would be much better to introduce yourself in the freelander / gaylander section .Use the search function and read , before starting a new thread .

I have a similar problem .I think its a dodgy MAP sensor connection or I might need a new one .

My apologies Old Irish Wulf for starting thread in wrong place, assumed I was in the Introduce yourself section.

Managed to solve the EML light and starting problem after cleaning out the egr valve. When I turned the ignition couldn`t hear the fuel pump kick in, so gave it a dunt it started whirring and the eml light turned off and started engine no problems, cut out once again today so gave it a kick again restarted then no problems for the rest of the trip. Think I`ll replace the fuel pump any way probably on its road out.
