Hello Everyone,

I have just brought my first land rover today - a 1978 88 Series 3 2.25 Diesel. Driving it back from collecting, didn't get very fast - only to be expected really!

My first questions is, is there anything I should check levels of etc. that isn't so much applicable to normal cars? I mean, I have checked radiator oil levels etc as on normal cars, are there any other things I might have missed? I don't want to damage it by being unaware of something.

I'm sure I'll be back with more questions, but thanks a lot in advance

Good luck !!

Have you checked:

front swivel housing oil levels
steering relay oil level
upper steering box oil level
greased your propshaft nipples!

can't think of anything else as mine's a petrol !

Transfer box oil level
diff oil level
Over Drive oil, if fitted....
Possibly easier to park it over news paper over night, then look for the tell-tale drip marks in the morning, and trace back from there to where fluids are needed though!

Get the owners manual, and the Repair Over Haul Manual, everything you might need to know will be in one or other. Craddocks have both on the shelf, I know for sure, Paddocks probably do to, but also available from other Landy emporiums, and even on the net in pdf format if you hunt hard enough.
