Hi guys my names Adrian and I'm new to Landy zone,
Resantly purchased a 1990 defender 90, started stripping it right back to see what shapes she's in but looks as if a new chassis might have to be on the cards,
Haven't striped the front yet from the bulk head foward but any ideas on the best place to start searching for a new galv chassis many thanks I'm in Somerset :)

The most common supplier seems to be Richards Chassis, have a look at their website. A new one won't be cheap so I hope you didn't pay a lot for your Defender. Re-chassising a landy is a big job, you need a fair bit of room. During the strip down you will probably find a fair few other things needing to be refurbished or replaced so allow for that in your budget. There are a small number of companies that will fit the new chassis for you but again it costs lots of money. Good luck and keep us informed of your progress.

I had a Richards chassis, largely because Marsland were so busy they weren't even picking up the phone. The Richards seems fine, everything fitted and, as I gave it two coats of Corroless, it should see me out.
I couldn't fit the chassis myself for various reasons, and had it done by a good local small garage. I suggest joining one of the local Land Rover owners clubs and asking around - someone will be able to recommend a good garage. It is quite possible to do it yourself, as long as you have space and either lifting gear or a handy rugby team to do the lifting.

Oh, and welcome! Hope you find the site as useful and interesting as I have - made a couple of friends through it as well.
