Hi everyone

Last year November I bought my first Land Rover - a 1995 Discovery V8. I bought it already kitted out for a very good price.

It cam ewith dual ARB lockers, 33" Wrangler MTR's on beadlock rims, 2" lift kit, aftermarket front and rear bumpers and rock sliders. The engine is stock but for a unichip and freeflow exhaust. The previous owner also fitted a DIY slide out drawer system in the rear.

I am thoroughly enjoying this vehicle and hope to learn more from this site as I sort out a few issues I am having.

Attached pics in the sand were taken at a dune area close to Cape Town city centre that is open to 4x4 owners, quad bikes and sand boarders.

What a nice bit of Kit, Hello Mate and Welcome, we have mud (loads of fun) you got sand. Looks k`in Ace. great pics:cool:

Thanks again for the welcome - much appreciated!

Vinniejb - we too have mud here in our Winter. We have a lot of mountain trails close by which are very nice - both in and out of Winter. We have one 4x4 mountain trail close by that is snow covered in Winter. We don't get snow down near the coast where I stay.

I still need to take this Disco to a mountain trail - will post pics when I do.

Howzit bru from an ex-capie, now exiled to this cold place.. :)
Mind you, flew over to CT, and went up the West coast last year for the first time since '95.. aside from the poverty not a great deal has changed :)

Will do so Vinniejb.

Going to change out pan hard rod bushes this weekend, track rod ends and maybe this weekend I will replace the props UJ's - got some vibration when under load!

Hangar53 - shout next time you are this side again - always up for a spin in the dunes and there is usally a seat or 3 available in the Disco!

Weather there looks grim. Truck looks ok. Ahhhhhh!!!!!! envious as fook. lol Welcome to the mad house.:welcome:

Hi TD,
agree with the rest about your disco,
you done well buying it.

I can see why white was a good choice on Disco.

had to grin at date of dune pics,
in the sun..

bloody rained all day here 2 days ago,
today looks grim too.

6.3 degrees rising, but a storm warning being given out for our coastline.

Thanks easye1

It has been 3 months now and I am still stoked everytime I turn the key in the ignition!!!!

Yep - summer here - have had up to 38 degrees here recently - a bit cooler this week - high 20's. Don't think I could swap this weather for any other place in the world! We don't get tornado's, hurricane's, floods, snow or extreme sun here - but the weather makes trails so different - you have to enjoy a trail both in Summer and Winter.
We are surrounded by 2 oceans being here at the tip of South Africa and have some awesome mountain ranges inland!
Overlanding is a thing of bliss here in SA.

Our idea of grim weather is so not the same as your experience!!!! ;)

Looking forward to another dune trip on the 17th!!! Yeehah!!!!

I owned a Nissan Sani 4x4 - a 3.0 V6 stationwagon - very similar to the old American Pathfinder and what the Australians call a Terrano. It is based on the Nissan Hardbody chassis and under carriage but is bonded to a glass reinforced plastic stationwagon mould. With that in mind I had started a community web site for the Nissan clan here in South Africa and have been doing that since 2003.
They have kindly allowed me to venture to the Land Rover side - have to take my hat off to them. I get the jokes when we meet up but after offering them a ride in the Disco - I earn much respect!!!:pound:

First pic below is me being lazy - a friend got stuck in his Nissan so I "gently" nudged him out of his predicament instead of getting out the recovery gear!!!

Second pic shows our beautiful Table Mountain in the background.
