Hello all
I've just bought a 1964 LWB station wagon for re-building and conversion to electric. It'll be the new farm car for the next 20 years (I hope). Lots of challenges though:
I've just bought a 1964 LWB station wagon for re-building and conversion to electric. It'll be the new farm car for the next 20 years (I hope). Lots of challenges though:
- Half shafts - I remember endless half shaft replacements when I drove my last SII overland to Zambia in 1974! The new electrics will have more torque - so need to think about rear axle. Anyone any advice?
- Brakes - the car will be used by all sorts, many of whom aren't familiar with the rather laid-back nature of drum brakes on a heavy vehicle. I'd like to go to disks, but no engine = no vacuum = no servo. Once again, any advice welcome.
- There are lots of electric power steering options to help the lighter girls in tight places. Yet again - any views on which systems work and which to avoid.
