Hi there - Ryders wife here once more

Had a real good day out last Saturday not too demanding - although the Batford ford got my heart racing, easily through though! For once!
Really good to do the navigating - didn't do too bad for a girlie huh! Had a Disco driver with us who was even newer to it than us - which was good and he faired really well - Hope He had a good day and didn't scratch his new Landy too much. Did a few new lanes but they were quite dry but......the weather forecasted may make the difference! Would deffinately like to do the same lanes after the forecasted downpours - I am guessing that after Mondays/Tuesdays gales and rain these may take on a completely different challenge. Open to others input though - the Ashwell lane is a bit off limits (mud like superglue and fall off point to both sides) but I am willing to try any others. Willing to navigate again but will need either O/S maps or Tom Tom points.

I've gone mad on Fleabay and bought a load more OS Maps of the regions where we started to drop off the Maps that we had. i haven't started marking them up yet, but first glance, there seems to be plenty there.

Do you have memorymap?? and if not would you like a copy.??

I've heard about memory map but never used it or understood it to be honest. I have pois on tom tom if you want to trade Jai

I've got the POI's already. Memory map is basically OS maps on a PC or PDA. the advantage over paper maps is that if you have a gps receiver then MM will tell you were you are, and will automatically trace your route onto the map as you drive. and remember it for later. You can then follow the route next time you go out or send it to someone else who will be able to follow the route you took.

You just answered the question I asked in a PM a few minutes ago Red. This would be really good. It's a little like the tracking system I run at the moment, it records my locations back at my house and I can play them, back later. Of course it means the wife always knows where the car is as well... but what the hell. Memory map would be a great improvement.

How's the laning in yorkshire? I was reading on a forum a day or two ago that an awful lot of lanes have not been opened again after the FMD fiasco. Is there still a good range of places to visit, or are we better sticking to Hyde park?

Yorkshire dales NP are currently trying to TRO most lanes on the grounds that a motor vehicle is detrimental to the outstanding beauty of the place. NY Moors still has a few lanes open but the farmers have just narrowed the gates making it impossible to get a 4x4 through a lot of em.

I had a girlfriend once whose appearance was detrimental to the outstanding beauty of the place... If I'd known the council could sort it out with a simple order I'd have been down there like a ferret up a trouser leg!
