yeah - i werent having a dig at you - just the usual " int it great whizzing past in the landy and looking at all the muppets" type post. Its easy to get blase about the grip in a 4wd.

yea - i was driving the rangey as a car now a 4WD essentially, its used as a car, and the all terrains are less than great in snow.

its all about the tyres

Big thanks to Kev tonight. My Landy wouldn't start. Starter Motor was jammed. Have you ever tried bump starting a Landy on snow, well don't because it doesn't work, there isn't enough friction from the tyres to spin the engine over. We towed it to a cleared road which freed it off. I'm mobile again.

Well looks like I'm missing out on all the fun over there! The road network here is rather clear even though there's a chuffin lotta snow.
I'd like to say I'd rather be there playing and helping out, but, I much prefer it on this side of the pond!

Glad your ok Carpy, shame about the damage though, but as has been said, better you being alrite and the Rangie damaged than the other way round.

I have myself a Rental Ford F250 Pick up :D Its fecking massive! Got a bigger turning circle that a 110!

yup exactly

what engine you got in the F250? the cummins diesels in the dodge 2500's was one of my main methods of transport and the cummins engine is an absolute beaut

i did however fall in love with an 8 litre v10 dodge 2500. i only got to drive it for a little while but sweet mother of jesus thats nice

what you got the truck for anyway?

I only got the baby 5.4 V8, Only to get about up here for the week, coulda got away with a small car, but i thought i'd have something beefy!

I do like the look of the Dodge better though.

Bonjourno,

If anyone fancies some fun in the lanes let me know, we are just outside Hemel. Luckily working from home and taking some trips out during the day

110 DEF...

yea the dodge trucks look alot better imo,the fords are abit too boring on the front, the dodge has more presence. and they seem to last longer out in the sticks as well

Hey People,

PUB MEET,

Right where do we want it?

Options:

Original Place? (a bit far for the majority of people)
Latest Place? (a bit small to accomodate us lot tables too small)

I tried up at Half Moon at the end of the Byway however it was closed.

I will put forward The Leciester Arms Luton just off Junction 11 get on well with the manager and they are happy to do what they can althought its not a country pub and the food is just pub food. Bbut I will put it forward as a suggestion. Anyone else??? I want to get somwhere sorted so we can let the local club know where to attend if they feel they want to attend. Jai

I drove the back way home tonight, took the single track road from J9 M1 to join up with the Harpenden Road, the last bit of lane before it joins Harpenden Road had no tracks on it, now I know why. It's a sunken lane with hedges both sides and what would normally be the tarmac bit in the middle is now a succession of huge snow drifts. I was on my own, was doing OK until I rounded a corner and the whole road was one big drift. Reversing was going to be a real ball ache, so I went for it. First attempt ground to a halt and started spinning, managed to reverse out, had another go, got stuck, but got out again, tried a third time and stopped. Thought **** or bust time, backed it up and really went for it. YeeHah!!! massive shower of powder and I was through the drift. Good helps anyone who sees my tracks and thinks it's OK to drive. I was spinning and that's with Pirelli Ice & Snow Tyres. Might have to go back tomorrow night to try some different lines.

Sounds like good fun, having to be carefull not to do anything that might brake the Disco at the moment as it's the only vehicle I've got working that can get me the 40 miles to work each day.

Sounds like fun!! How deep were the drifts; the ones I did in Wales were up to the top of the bonnet on the Rangey.
