Hey discobasher thanks for the post i was thinking about the second of the two you showed me but how many do i need do i need two up front and two at the rear even tho i have a tow bar and where abouts do they bolt on to the chassis? and is there any difference in quality from where you buy them from as iv seen alen key headed ones or just normal bolts any help or advice would be great thanks.

No worries mate. Usually 2 jate rings will be ok. They bolt thru the chassis and give a sound recovery point. I dont think there would be much diffrence between the normal ones or the fancy curved ones really apart from looks. The tow ball on the rear is an excellent recover point as long as it has a backplate on the inside of the cross member (stops the bolts pulling thru).
Dont worry too much about fitting them as if I am out I will fit them for you in about 5 mins while everybody has a chinwag and sorts out the order of the day.

I have spoken to Dan about helping sort out a days laning in the Surrey and he will also be able to make it on Saturday and show us round the lanes over his part of Surrey as well. Just let me know for sure who is coming so we have an idea of numbers.

Hey guys, you lot were busy last night, just caught up.

Spurs - I have a pair of Jate Rings that I carry as spare (just in case) If you can't get any in time I'm sure we can hook you up.

Disco52 - looks like you had fun, would look at getting some better tyres and suggest a steering guard might be a good idea too.

Surrey lanes.... yeah, why not.

I think Jai's idea of hiring a P&P site is brilliant, would be up for that.

exactly but wd must be careful everyone must sign disclaimers cp per Whaddon

No yee Ha's or driving like idiots

Trials sounds great i would volunteer to lay out some sections. im just making up some cane markers for myself so will make a few more spare

Will get brickiills number asap hopefully Jai

Alright guys, hopefully i will be tagging along with "Spurs"... as my landy is still in many pieces. Surrey lanes sounds good, anywhere in particular??? I know a few around effingham/ Dorking way (i use to live around there) if thats any help.
Otherwise bring it on!!!

Chris

ok looks like we cant get a site to play yet or its alot harder than first imagined it has all kinds of insurance and risk that goes with the hire of such sites normally it wouldnt matter at a club has its own insurance etc etc and we are not a club. Any suggestions welcome or anyone that knows more cant this than of please feel free to comment Jai

Dashboard needed Ripping out so I did that plus dont think by rear axle would Pass and if i kept quite they might think i was cheating although it would have been good on all the cross axles! driven right over them! Lol Jai

Oh believe me it is the Nuts!! Been there many times fprobably about 25 or more and laid out a few there and very good. The problem is who is responsible for it all. Even asking the farmer to rent you his land makes you the responsible person the event organiser its all law bolix but for instance if you roll over and write your car off and injure yourself no one will care but if you hurt somone else or a walker walking a public RoW or even a passenger ends up in hospital it becomes a problem! As we are not a club we cannot get insurance plus nobody wants the "club" status as it brings politics and all that crap. Jai

Been racking my brains and hve mabe come up with a soloution,

It wouldn't be a pay and play day but a propper trial.

I am a member of the AWDC they do not have many rules. they have event insurance and as long as enough members turn up they will be happy. all they care about is that your mota is safe and road legal. if people joined and went on the forum we could hold a few loacl trials and mabe if with the AWDC concent we could do what they call a drive round. Im sure marshalls and people would be willing to help out one Sat and Sun next year Jai
