we gotta be the most active bunch of laners on the forum. Of course if you know better!....

I have to sleep (too****ed to wake up).

Hey Kris! just noticed you there .... hows it going! Wanna buy a cheap shogun?

Evening is probably out ths week due to fuel price/income equation. But are you coming to billing is the question of the moment?

The f***ing problem is that we wanna play all day... but the system says we have to work for a living. Wht kind of world do we live in? How unfair is that! SURELY WE SHOULD BE REWARDED for having 4 x 4 motors so that we can bail the rest of the world out when their motors just don't cut it!

And it is only fair that we should be encouraged to practice our off road driving skills to bring us up to the required standard.

I think a substantial grant should be offered to all off road 4 x 4 drivers to enable them to train for the sort of emergencies featured on sky:"Wouldn't you believe it a 4x4 rescued me" channel. That way I don't have to program until stupid o clock to afford to pull dumb teenagers out of the ditch after they take a corner too fast. OOPS! Getting too drunk.... signing off now!

I did look into this problem of work getting in the way of off Roading and look at getting a job as a National Trust Ranger, get to drive a Land Rover all day on lanes that most people are not permitted to drive on and get paid for it. That was the problem part, pay so bad it wouldn't cover the bills.

Billing, Sunday - may be a possibility.

Spent a bit of time under the oily bits tonight. timing cover is ready to pop now I have managed to get the crank pulley off - damn that is a pain when you don't have the special tools, I couldn't find my specially designed off cut of gas pipe so used a leg off a 3 leg puller to lock the pulley.

Hopefully will make it.

Hiya Kev did you manage to get the Pully off??

Usually we resort to a decent snap-on bar against the chassis rails tied down or held by a willing person, with an impact socket then we crank the engine a couple of times with the ignition removed just to break the locktight seal then its usually undone with a rachet. It sounds dodgy but know for a fact that land rover do this in the workshops. Plus I have done this many many times to great effect its just a case of being careful and safe as possible.

I cant make Thursday night going down south to collect a couple of axles we got on ebay so have a goodun will see some of you Sunday.

P.s. Ryder if you havent already get some jate rings they are less than £20 will save you so much grief when you get stuck, as we all will get stuck sometime.

Jai

Jai,

Have heard of using the starter to get the thing undone. Not had to use that approach. I have got (somewhere) a piece of gas pipe which is the right length to wedge between the notch in the pully and the air con compressor mount, works a treat.

I couldn't find the gas pipe last night so had to improvise. I took a leg off a puller which fitted quite nicely and used the side of the steering box (very carefully), Job done. Will hopefully remove the timing cover tonight and clean it up with a view to reassembly Friday night/Saturday morning.

So, when you coming out to play next?
