Thanks- that explains it!!!!

When I looked on Paddocks I could not work out which one I needed so I phoned them up. The woman told me I needed the smaller ones. As I was making a monumental fook up fitting, them I ended up buying some spares. Just gone out in the garage and measured them and the dozy bint has given me the 82mm ones

Some smaller ones should solve it- I should have thought something might have been wrong when I spent hours trying to get them in (I put it down to me being incompetent)

Give me a sec let me measure a small UJ to make sure .................................... back on a mo.

Jai, do you have a wiring diagram for the 3 speed auto in a 84 classic? Struggling to know which is the reverse and which is the P/N start switch wires, the rest is sorted, I think.

Green brown seems to come to mind for reverse lights from gearbox...... might be wrong tho

Ok I got a green green/white and black on one plug that went to where the selector cable goes and another plug that the lable has fallen off, but can't test anything as engine bay non existent and no steering column in.

Black is almost always earth on a landy. fook knows what others do thought there is a colour code for british cars . somewhere on net.

Yeah I found the jag but had to turn round as it was blocking the lane, prob good idea to do it while its quite dry as I have no snorkel or lift kit!

Right, I have been trawling the net and have found the answer. The plug with 3 wires is the safety start. How dumb am I :banghead:
