Congrats LRJ. :D

I may be up for some lanes, once i get time to do my clutch and starter motor. I got no running vehicles at the moment, The vRS is running horridly, not what i wanted after a week away on work, so the cars still at work.

What cracking weather we've been having also. Nice to have a little rain.

I'm up for some lanes this weekend

Would love to join in but Rangie has MOT on Saturday - no idea if it will go through or not ( I think it should......maybe...ish) but then on Sunday I have to start packing up stuff in anticipation of a completion on my house sale, Monday I'm up to North Wales so my weekend seems to be pretty well taken care of.

Anyway, whatever the weekend brings have a good one:)

Jai, I went for the Kams in the end. will let you know on how i find them etc.

Anybody use or have experience with Memory Map? I'm thinking of doing various trips and expeditions so am going to get some kind of system installed in the Landy however have limited knowledge on the best route to take.

Glenn... Memory Map is the way to go in my opinion. You can go to the trouble of installing a full blown PC if you want to go that route but it really is not necessary. Go on ebay and buy yourself an old O2 XDA IIs. Make sure you get the "s" version though... This little beauty costs about £30 and runs Windows CE. Memory Map runs quite happily on windows CE - having the maps installed on an SD card. I run mine in the vehicle all the time!

Oh yeah... the reason for using the IIs version is that you can turn the unit around so you are viewing in Landscape...rather than portrait orientation... more natural for map reading.

If you want to extend your mapping to plot your current position on the map while you are driving you will need a gps antenna for the xda. I use a bluetooth antenna from Maplins (about £50 when I last checked but they might be cheaper by now). Llinking the XDA and the antenna is simple bluetooth pairing just like you were using one of them posh headset things.

Memory Map is available from my house if you come over here with about 10 DVDs.

Think that covers everything!

BTW if you want it I got Tom Tom for the XDA as well!

Ryder... thanks for the prop... all is good so far!!

As for memory map, i need it... gonna have to look into it next... dont need the tom tom as the mrs bought me a flash dvd/satnav stereo for my birthday/christmas last year (mainly for her when we do long trips) it has an SD slot for the sat nav but not sure of il get mem map to run on it.... hmmm

Looks like we're both moving that way.... let me know when you're there and we'll have to do a trip out around the hills!!

Benjy the offer stands... call me and arrange to call over with some dvds the maps take a ****load of space... though I could make them available for ftp download if you are familiar with tht sort of thing!
