Pleasant day at Peterborough met up with some old friends Discobasher and Dan dan the man with the air horn at salisbury. Also saw Tazz bus a good day noce weather!

So what did I buy not alot.......... but some unexpected bling.

a drivers side door card plastic not cardboard £10,
a Disco drop arm and rear wiring cover £5,
a chequerplate rear load cover new £30,
a hub nut spanner new shorty £3,

so good day good company all good! Prices were realistic not billing much much better!!

Spent the day with Jai and B-I-L, great show compared to Billing. Bargains to be had.
ply box for my recovery kit, fits perfectly, only £35, couldn't make it for that.
Disco fans to replace the Astra ones I kill regularly, 2 for £10
4 extended wheel studs for a quid each instead of a fiver each, sadly only had 4 though.
Done a deal with MIB Off- road to make me a rear recovery loop as well as some rear quarter armour.
Alloy fair lead for a tenner new.

Good to see Discobasher and Dan, been too long a time.

Had a productive day, fitted my new recovery gear box, lined it with rubber running track so it won't sound like a subwoofer in the back.
Changed handbrake pads and transfer box oil seal as it was ****ing out making the handbrake useless.
Just got to look at rear wheel brake is binding and it's all good till next time I break it.

Message for Jai or anyone that can answer my questions
I looking into off road trails But the more I look into it the more confused I get
So the main questions ( for now ) are what club or clubs are the best for me to join as a beginner I have a form filled out here for AWDC and another one I looked at joining was Anglian Rover owners club?
Is it possible to go to an event as a spectator to see how it all works before I join a club
And what sort of kit would I need to be buying to start out so I can work out the costs
Thanks all

23rd Sept come and watch the RTV course by some of the best drivers in the country. Very local to Dunstable let me know your going and I'll meet you there.

If you like it and depending on mods already done or wish to do then come and play either Tyro or RTV below.

21st October you should be able to come and play.

Any questions just ask

Regards

Just saw your motor d2. May I suggest looking at Tyros first and keep it cheap join Anglian LRC - Home or join if you like what you see when you can get to an event.

AWDC are very good but not as suited for noobies really I've been out of touch with the locals for a few years but I believe its still John and the gang.

If you want to taste trials in your D2 then I would most certainly advise you to join Anglian LRC - Home. There are 2 anglian clubs local to us which is confusing anglianLRC is my prefered because I know the guys very well good bunch they are too.

bhclrc are ok but not really clicked with them tbh no fault of them just didn't happen.

Sussed out my intermittant indicators to a knackared flasher relay and a really corroded fuse / fuse holder. have fitted new relay and will fit all new fuses tomorrow and clean up all contacts.

Just drawn up a defender rear storage draws for the back of my 90 will get a price to get the metal bent and cut up locally I cannot afford to buy them 1K is serious money and off the shelf are not gonna fit my needs.

Hi thanks for the advice so far
What time does the 23rd event start Il be driving back from Bournemouth on that day but if I can leave early enough I could make it
It would be nice to see what it's all about
From what I can work out the classes I'd be looking driving would be the lower ones I mite start with the discovery but the long term plan would be to buy a series 3 or defender 90 just for trails but still run in a class that suites std cars my discovery has. A 2" lift which from what I've read may put it in a modify class

How can I forget Ryder and Kai's video RTV Anglian/CVLRC in Tring.

The course is more difficult than Tyro and if you make a mistake there is a chance of damaging your motor albeit a small chance. Tyro has some strict limits because its for newer motors and unlicenced drivers to have a go and a doorway to get into the sport.

Ok a 2 inch lift is ok aslong as you have std suspension arms and shock mountings then you are ok perfectly within regs.

Other things to note is bumpers non std etc they can get funny but if you are running std bumpers or bumpers that give no advantage then your good to go.

The usual steps for any noobie starting after a few events is they ask what they can do to improve and the answer is usually plus 2 shocks and 2 inch lift on longer softer springs on a disco 1/RRC/Defender suspension setup anyway. Tyre pattern and tyre size. Disco 2 may be different on the suspension setup

Events start from 9.30 scruteneering is usually from 8.30 to 9.30 if your only watching then come up any time usually ends around 4pm ish

RTV there isnt any D2's competing that I know of not around here anyway planty doing tyro but not throwing them in the rougher stuff. If you do you really should consider removing any front valance. Tyre wise 750 diamonds are hard to beat but again will not fit your disco but will be perfect on a series or defender.

4th November should be a great event any 4x4 road legal vehicle goes treasure hunt/ fun day at tring the guys here can testify that Tring is a fantastic site for trials and fun events
