Sorry Jai.... completely missed your post about popping in here... was here most of the day so you could have done! Rose 'll be here tomorrow though I will be out with the others...

Brett... see you at your house 8:30...

Should be fun... haven't been out in ages!

Made some progress this afternoon. I fiddled around for ages trying to knock the bit of broken halfshaft out form the other side of the diff with no success, so ended up taking the diff out (first time I've done this)

A couple of minutes and I was able to knock out the broken bit of shaft and clean up all the shards that were left.

While the diff was out I also replaced the pinion seal and cleaned out the diff pan which had even more bits of chewed up shaft in. The diff looked good, no chipped teeth or anything, so it looks like no damage.

The diff is back in. Tomorrow I'll refit the propshaft and halfshafts, and I'll be good to go. :D

Snorkel malfunction, I was pulling water in somewhere, died in a hole about 3' deep, dragged it out of the deep using the starter motor, it then re-fired, loads of white smoke. I wasn't going to risk doing it again, it was skin of the teeth getting it out the first time.
I did go first though, proper deep in parts.

Motor ran fine the rest of the day, I'll have the induction system apart and re-seal it.
