forget points for rope just keep it simple most punches wins. Otherwise it gets like yank comps and thats only a bad thing.

I'd rarther use a winch than destroy my weak 10 spline front end! Punches win and a general overview of who drove most of it and who needed a tow/winch.

Should be a laugh not too serious but give it a good go.

The new brakes and some other bits arrived today. The oil seal has started to go on one of the hubs, so I've got a new seal, land and all the washers and gaskets for this too.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get time to do it this weekend, hopefully it'll be back on the road ready for the next pub meet.

paul found some good lanes tonight , went down that hump thing on the right , feck thats steep, and the one on the road opposite brocket hall , did quite well for the first outing was a good crack , nice first introduction

gotta get that towbar sorted now catches everything lol

No can do this weekend. Loads on plus have to get ready for next comp. I may well drive my 90 up in Rear Wheel Drive for the next comp!!! Wot ave I done?

Spyderman one bloke got 15 punches and had a cv failure last sunday So I reckon we might be in with a chance next comp!!

I have never bend a STD arm or track rod while off-road with my stearing guard, but like you say it's preference!!

Standard steering drag links and standard track control arms can be bent crossing ruts climbing over small tree stumps and simply hitting a hole too hard. leaving your wheels looking very spastic like as they tow out madly!

bent several and seen numerous more done in all too easily and that doesnt count the steering dampers!

If you go protection you will need a front protection or bash plate for the drag link and another plate mounted on the axle for the track control rod which reduces ground clearance considerably.

Heavy duty steering arms are the only solution. Sumo bars are made from very strong spring steel and even if you hit a tree stump at speed you will simply bounce off and the bar will still be straight.

Purchase protection for show. Strength for go!

I refer the readers to take a good look at my signature!!!

You can say all you like about HD arms vs stearing guard, I have still never bent a standard one and go off-roading often.
I am speaking from MY experience.
And bouncing off trees on HD arms!!!
DON'T BE SILLY!!

sible there is offroading and there is offroading most things people do on here including this punch event which is actually a drive round is so very tame even the very worse bits at Whaddon is laughable by the average trialler. Local trials is what it is but national champinships and comp ing is a whole different thing. In fact many regular ccv drivers would absolutely **** jo bloggs ANYWHERE at whaddon in a well setup motor through knowing their motor and pure driver skill especially vs a challenge truck that weighs going on for 3 tons. They laugh because they do not need traction aids nor bolt on goodies. Look at the national trials champion see what he has bolted to their vehicle. I wouldn't mind betting its a good old fashioned whitbread type cage ali paneled motor with hd arms.

Tbh nobody here i can think of has seen really serious competitive trials. Not with me anyway, i know spyderman has seen a local one that was so poorly laid out and tame that competitors went home. Ryder has seen more but again only local stuff . The local AWDC events are probably the only local events that can be worthy of being offroad but again the national events are where its at.

What we do on here is nothing. We can all big ourselves up when'we get to a hard bit and try and justify buying bits for our cars but most of the time bits that we fit to protect only hinder. A CCV driver worth his salt would **** many and do you see why they don't mingle on our forum on ere? Because some of the stuff we do is laughable!!! Ask me why i've got diff guard on the front of my mota? Because i was given it. I would never have fitted it otherwise. Presenr from Rachels dad.

As said its a personal choice. So do what you want This is not here to change anyones mind but just to'say look around and see what comp guys do and how abused their cars get and take a look at what there running.

All i will say is when you look at any mota be wary if it looks lood but has a drop plate at the rear is bollox its a bling motor. If it has a winch at the back that sticks out or lower and reduces departuree angle its bollix and a bling motor. Also most real comp motors show signs of years of abuse. Faded scraped paint etc if its shiny you have to ask yourself its either never competed, i.e been proven or its a tarts car. Ali gearknobs stuff thats expensive and adds NOTHING to make it better offroad. All signs of a pretend motor. If you want a road car then nowt wrong making it look good and it'll be fun and turn heads for sure. To those that can see beyond the shiny paint it is what it is.

I think i creamed myself over a sorted 88 inch comp motor at Billing everyone was like its **** but it had all the working of a sorted motor and i said so to the owner. I liked it alot!

i'm a bit stuck aswell tbh my 90 is not built to compete in owt. Its not that bad really but its not gonna get me any silverware. Like wise I have a half finished CCV motor which I wish I could take to a winch event and have a go because it is purly comp blueband cage no bollix on it and weighs feck all. Should do well tbh. If you look at my mota there is never a compromise if somthing detracts from its offroad ability its not fitted OR its strength reliability outweighs its slight issue OR we found a soloution around it. My 90 is not pretty its not caged but the suspension and running gear and all the importsant stuff is there and its all as good as i can get it. bar front end which will soon be sorted.

Look at every CCV motor it will take 10 times the ammmount of abuse any of our road motors will and see each and every comp. Ask yourself what do they run? I can gurantee you 99% run sleeved steering arms or dan/sumo bars. Without a guard why? Well because its a hinderance when doing anything worthy of being called offroad.

This is not bollix, its fact. Check it out for yourself and let us know your findings.

Andyb66 is a sound chap and scruteneer for the southern group ask him like wise a national scruneneer will be at a no bull comp at Tring in a couple of weeks come see where they put their CCV motors on std tyres, std OPEN diffs and try and get your mota to the same place in the next driveround.

There really is a huge gap between them and us in our heavy underpowerd tanks!
