Got them done now we tricked the bloke into doing them for £15 for cash. And he was not happy after spinning up the first on the balance machine and reading 190g!! But we said he has to do the job now they have started.

Joker, I would of told you to do one lol.

Ref **** brakes 109.

If the brake pedal is rock hard and high when the rear flexi hose is clamped then you have 2 possible issues.

1. Air in the system at the back axle.
2. Poorly adjusted rear brakes.

Solution is to jack up both rear wheels and then use the brake adjusters (snail cams) to lock both shoes solid and do that both sides.

Now try the pedal without the clamp.

If the pedal is hard now then it is simply an adjustment issues. Simply re adjust the brakes properly.

If the pedal is still long/soft then it is a air in the system issue.

If the brakes refuse to bleed properly then you should strip down the brakes and check the rear wheel cylinders for brake fuid leaks. if they are leaking it is likely they are drawing air in as well as letting fluid out.

but those are your two basic issues.

Cheers. I'm pretty sure the adjustment is ok - I've done it several times in the past successfully, but I've never tried to lock the shoes solid. I'll try this at the weekend and also get the dust seals off and have a better look for weeping cylinders.

Usually lock them solid give the brake drum a tap all around with a plastic mallet. Double check they're still locked solid and back them off usually a couple of notches on the snail cam(s) and the hub should spin freely.

My 90 had the return springs installed incorrectly when I got it aswell not much spring action to close the shoes up..

Burnham off roaders Punch challenge event at Roundhill Woods nr. Tring this weekend. Jai and myself are going on Saturday.
Fantastic fun, it can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. Who else fancies coming along?

I was planning on going but I now have to go to ludlow to collect an ebay purchase. I'll be leaving early to get there so if I'm back early enough I'll pop along to have a look wont be taking part as I'd break something and I will have my daughters with me.

Right... ropes! I have a nice big pile of the buggers currently killing off the lawn! 100 or more of them, about 15ft long, unspliced.

This is what most ends look like, some are a bit more shabby but very easy to splice:

CharlesY's neat handiwork on this double length section:

Camped at CharlesY's the other night and after talking about it with him he would rather see them go at £2 each to LZers. It was lucky I was passing, otherwise we would have had to pay roughly £100 to send the pallet this far south!! They are bloody heavy I can tell you (not good news when your brake pipe splits in 2 on the motorway ).

Its been a while since we last talked about them and I can't find a complete list of how many everyone wanted so can you let me know (and any preference in colour) and I will start sorting them out.

I should be at the pub meet next time and will bring them along if I know you're coming.

In a bit of dilemma thou!!
