Also... we are at work in the evening so cant do much past 5pm... again, can be there the following morning till midday....
I've got a Hi-Lift, Waffles, Recovery ropes, Shackles, welcome to borrow the kit. I'm at home till 10am tomorrow. I can show you where they are on the OS Map too.
If the disco is already at 45 deg facing the banking and it's only 2' high there, then maybe a recovery via the field may be possible, but for sure get permission and ideally a tractor.
Do try jacking it first though, it's the least damaging. You don't know what damage you're going to do as there are trees involved.
No worries. Off to bed now.. If I go to Ryder's first then I may stop off at yours if its OK.
Jack,
Be really careful driving that lane mate, it's good to have a passenger as a spotter for you.
Spyderman and Jack... I think the best plan will be to drive it as far as the hardstanding ends, then just park up.. We are literally just off that by 50-100m so we can walk it and assess....
As long as you come in from the widdington - cornells lane entrance you'll be fine up to the bit where were stuck.
Is it worth meeting in the pub car park at 10 instead!? And heading down as a group??
Ok will meet you at the pub car park at 10. Hope you aren't confused cause I don't think Spyderman is coming.
Just been talking to Rose arranging everything... I would need to be back here by 2:30 to get the kids from school. Is that pushing it a bit?
Cheers Ratty...just let me read that a few times to get it well ingrained!
No problem. You will find it easier to do this technique if you can use the back of the rescue landy rather than the front to attach the tow rope to.
If nobody has a winch or an old winch cable lieing around take an old plastic bucket with you. Cut the bottom of the bucket out and slit down the side of the bucket in a straight line from top to bottom. Position the bucket over the tree and you can then use it as a kind of pulley to wrap a flat strop around. It will prevent damage to the tree and make the strop slide easily.
I have to say that I am kind of inclined to suggest a serious recce first... reserve judgement and take many, many piccies and then consult again.
My reason for this is simple... and I know I am going to be shot down in flames but wtf!
I have some experience of recovery, and as far as I know LRJ has a little less than I do. This is probably not going to be a simple process and I am reluctant to pursue a course of action borne of ignorance or mistake when other, more experienced eyes may well make a different call.
Don't misunderstand me, I am not backing out or calling chicken or anything like that... but this is someone else's motor and I always believe in using the best resources you can get yer hands on!
