Ah that sounds like a good plan!

I think i have a spare web domain, could do a whole site........

We have domains and hosting space... forum software and all that but in the end we'd just be duplicating what we have here and it wouldn't be as good.

Thinking about thsi calendar idea... shouldn't we open it up to the local groups as well as just us? Daft sometimes runs newbie jaunts out... the surrey lot are just as accessible for some; just look at Kris and his cohorts.

oxfordshire just around the corner.... I dunno what does everyone else think?

cheers jai very helpful indeed,im planning on building a comp motor so this will help me out alot.

jai can i watch at the nationals or do you have to take part in it?

If everyone is happy with it, then go ahead.. however I wouldn't give the login details to everyone maybe just the 2 most active within the area?

I think its a bad idea:

If we organise a trip we the organisers people on here on the forum, dispite what anyone says its our responsibility things are safe and insurance and the like should be obtained. Now we know each other and most of us are aware of how to behave etc but what if as noobie didn't and caused say a horse to bolt hurting or injuring the rider or one of us or indeed one of the vehicles in the group?

The organiser especially with a caleder inviting people or other groups is never good. Our calendar on here is open to everyone but does not invite anyone. Thats where the club thing is great all the insurance is sorted and we could hold our own events but none of us want the responsibility of organising/running a club. Me I'd rarther ask people here to join Anglian a local group and we can still do our thing a few trials drive rounds (like P&P without numpties) but stick to the regs laid out by the MSA and club. If we wish to go this route it means paying for it but the benifits are there if people want to do this. Its up to people if they want to or not which is a good thing me thinks.

Anything else we wish to do outside of the club we can also do but need to be careful and not really ever invite people. so we need to get people out that wish to come but have no come backs its almost a sign a disclaimer policy almost. PC I know but I don't fancy getting bitten.

I see where you are coming from but if you have the noobies in the middle of the group and lay down the rules of the group and say if you don't like fook off now then you should be ok?? Not saying it's down to one person but it's a group responsibility. Some one can drive down a country lane with or without a club and scare a horse you have to deal with the problem in hand at the time as everytime will be different? Having said that the calendar is a good idea to let people know what is going on, but like you said people shouldn't look at it like it is a organisation run club. They should look and ASK to come along?? Or have I missed the point entirely?

I know this aint my neck of the words, but whenever I "arrange" summat, It is always done on the understanding that I go out for a drive and peeps are welcome to accompany me, but it is at their own risk. It is their decision as to their capabilities and what they want to put their motor through.
Having said that, I dont do anything "risky" and recomend a CB to keep in touch, so that possible problems - ie potholes or boulders can be pointed out to everyone.
I wouldnt leave anyone stranded either, but that doesnt mean I "organise" anything or need specialist insurance.

dunno if this helps or hinders your discussions.

I think that is the best idea and can't see a problem with that as long as you warn people it's at there own risk?

It also has to be stated that they is no "loss of face" if yu decide to skip a lane or so. I know I have when going out with others. Last trip I went on with Buckshot, I and a couple of others decided not to do a lane or two, because we were in "every day drives" and had to drive home. We couldnt risk any serious damage. Some of the others were in srious kitted out motors that were only used as "Toys".

At the same time if I was going laining and I knew the track I was going down was really rough I suppose it's my responsibility to say it's not ideal for standard vehicles or for the novice? As it may be a bit of false advertisement? And if someone was to wreck/write off there vehicle I would feel bad. I would help them home/hospital to the best of my ability but I suppose this is part of your own risk?

I agree with everything said Just being extra careful about putting the calendar out to invite people its a touchy subject I know that we always say its at your own risk etc but it doesn't cover you always. Just here shouting to everyone to remind us that we have to be careful

Skipping out is the best thing to do if you are unsure about something and should not feel pressured into anything

Also be aware that any freely available published "meets" are also available for "others" to read, maybe not so pre-disposed to our hobby??
