The bow wave was over the bonnet, but the water was probably wheel height. I've not seen it that deep before... others may have...

Nice! I was there Sunday and it wasn't deep at all. I did go there a month or so back now and it was after a small storm and couldnt even see the bottom the river was so dirty/flowing quick so didn't drive it :(

Project DB? Naah that's almost complete. This is what you call a project:

Now then... thats the next six months sorted out!

thats inside the chassis and outside. maybe more as you have a disco I would do all the internal bodywork A post B post sills and all underneath. Jai

Like the look of your little project DB. If you need any help or advice let me know!!! :hysterically_laughi

right. as some of you know i ever so slightly hurt my land rover having naively decided to listen to the previous owner and believe him when he said it was fully serviced post a trip to morocco. along with my use it took it over the edge, but now thanks to kris its all up and running and sweet as a nut, proven by it managing a 1200 mile trip the day i took it back from kris - a testament if ever there were one.

right, the crunch. i will not be making that mistake again. i will also not be using it at pay and plays in the way i did:rolleyes: i may still take it along but will limit it to recovery work and what not if needed. i will of course still be greenlaning in it!

this is not so much because i dont want to hurt it, land rovers are kind of there to be hurt. it is more because i am now beginning to expedition prep it for a trip leaving mid january. i have done alot of umming about it, and had initially decided on a normal prep and respray in a sand colour. it may be in part jais fault at the peaks because when i mentioned sand he pointed to his landy. i must say i do like the colour, and so on. along with the fact that camel trophys are notorious at expeditions, i have decided to go the camel trophy route with my 110, turning it into a lookalike but hopefully with similar funtionality and ability on the expedition scene - which it will need.

i am going to need a respray first off, so i think thats the first stop, after which some money spending at brownchurch is in order. at the moment externally my only shopping list is heavy duty roof rack and extension, front bush bar - as used by camel trophy defenders, sand ladders, and a rear access ladder for the roof rack. then i will need a winch on the front - i think i will go with warn - well known for quality and used by camel trophys so keeping the deceptiveness up;)

i will need to do some snooping around a camel 110, but from what i have seen externally the standard is 4 spots on the brownchurch roof rack - with branch lifter wires, 2 on the bush bar, a warn winch with driving light mounted in the grill for illumination when using the winch in the dark, snorkel, swing away wheel carrier, shovel mount, pick mount, front mounted wheel, sand ladders, internal roll cage and then of course paint, decals and plaque.

so after the respray (which will either be august or november as i am in belize) i will be on the hunt for the above.

part of this post i guess is if anyone knows of any of the above, or anywhere that i can get the likes of decals, and camel trophy equipment. i would be hugely appreciative if people could point me in the right direction!

anyhow, i certainly look forward to the upcoming work in the winter months! and i look forward to the change also!

anyone thoughts, tips or stop dreamings also welcomed!

Welcome back Carpy.

If I'd known you were going the Camel lookalike route I would have taken some pics at Billing, there were hundreds of Camel landy's there, I believe they have a club, dunno if they would be helpfull or see you as an imposter ;-)

Anyway my truck cab made it back from Yorkshire despite a hole in the feul tank and no feul gauge. It's at Kris'es getting checked over and ready for the engine swap.

If Lewis wins the GP on Sunday (yes I'm giving him a chance to give me my money back) then my expedition prep will be given a huge boost :D

well carpy, lots to do asvise you to fit bush wires you also need to bull bar as bush wires need to be from chassis to roofrack to work properly otherwise you will rip off ur wings if you get more than a bush in ur way, Jai
