i didnt this time as i was by the roadside but i did before, its not the cost of the seal or time fitting it its getting them here in time to do it, they might get here in time but if they dont then i want to no they will last the trip to norfolk.

You could always get some kit from autoland... it would be abit more expensive but at least you would have it all in time!

Re: The CB I have to wait until I get Bulldog on channel up here... He knows that someone was interested though so I'll keep you updated...

Coming out? Hopefully. I am hoping to join you guys in a few weeks... unfortunately am in hopital for a few days towards the end of the month so will have to wait until I know what effect that has on me. Probably won't make the Santa Pod weekend which is a real **** because we went there last season and it was a seriously great day!

Tallking of Santa Pod... Spyderman... Ratty was talking about him and Robin coming up for that little jaunt, may be an idea to keep him in the loop regarding dates and arrangements!

The disco is getting closer to running, More or less finished getting the xfer box in, just have to check the positions of some of the bolts and ensure that the right lengths have been used in the right positions. Getting the downpipes fitted tomorrow and should be able to start it if I can get a charged battery to do it with, then its just the props to replace the UJs and we're all systems go for the MOT!

Of course the kids have gone back to school so my chief mechanic is only available after 4:30... Bummer

When you talk about the santa pod weekend, I presume there are some lanes around there?

Search this thread for santa pod, you'll get the results from last season...t'was interesting. 12 hours odd in one lane. The rest were just good fun, but my word that first one was sticky!

Jai's rear door still carries the scars from rescuing me!

Hopefully I will have my landy well by the bank holiday then. I have managed to source a replacement diff and will get a new gear box x member for my mate to weld next week.

yea i may make the bank holiday weekend - but ideally not the whole weekend? you looking at laning on the sunday or monday?

what the hell is goin on, got a new seal and took it all apart to fit it to find there was play in the bearings again after only 100miles, when i got to the 2 big nuts i could undo them with my fingers, i also noticed when i put it back on that even doin it up as tight as i can the bearings still spin nice and free.

Jamie,

For the nuts to be loose it could be a few things,

I take it is on the passenger side? most common due to the drive trying to undo the nut.

Not locking up the lock tabs correctly, easy done,
Possibly wrong hub assembly from a different vehicle (I doubt it it will be out alot),
Not knocking in the outer bearing race correctly,
Or
Using an old worn race will not work especially if it has worn or has become damaged. Jai

Best thing you can do is put up some pics. Or mabe I could come and have a look for you one evening can't say fairer than that. Jai

i couldnt get the old race out so had to reuse it, and as for the seal they gave me the wrong 1 and they havnt got the right 1 so cnt get one on in time for the norfolk trip, been looking round it today to asess work needed for mot, only things i can see is some welding in boot floor, driver and passenger footwells and inner wheel arches oh and rear shocks.

No worries somthing is making it loose Land rover and many other vehicle manufacturers has used that locking method since the first series ones circa 1950's so somthing has to be up with yours to go wrong. If you want a hand just shout Jai
