Hey Spyderman yes I saw it I will grab it next time I'm about, I think he also has one of my shackel pins or the back of the patrol has anyway. Jai

Useful link, Beds Council are pretty good with their updates too.

Not too long now until the great lanes of Beds & Cambs open for the season.:D

Excellent, do you have any ideas for dates for organising a day out round this area?? I'm hoping to be away in Thailand for 3 weeks from around the 20th, so should be ok for 18 or 19th of April. If that's a good starting point to get it rolling?? Unless you don't want me there then the weekend before would be great!! :suspicious: LOL

OK, I know I said I wouldn't take the Shogun down any lanes while the Disco was off the road... but there was a blackout tonight so we HAD to do something to entertain the kids!

I have to say it was nice to drive a few of the old faithfuls again!

Hope everyone is well

Cheers

Chris

Cool Glad to hear you are having fun again Chris' How is the Disco?? P.s have you still got my transfer box? Is it all in bits or kinda together ish It will need a full rebuild anyway but I may be fitting it to my mota again. Jai

Most of the lanes don't open until 1st May.

Hi Jai

Its all here. In two pieces I have to admit, but since a rebuild is on the cards that may not be a bad thing. Be glad to strip it here, would be a good opportunity to get an inside view of the business bits!

Haven't done anything to the landy as yet, first job is to get the xfer box back in and refit all the parts that were removed. Kai removed the wheels and tightened the wheel bearings on the shogun at the weekend, drives much better now!

Gonna need to pick up a hub nut spanner so that Kai can do the bearings on the front of the landy and then get the track rod ends ordered. He's also got the rear dampers and springs to replace but as yet they sit in the garage... he keeps saying things like "homework". Sounds like excuses to me! lol

OK...

Here's a question. As most of you will know I have been building up a tool kit suitable for tackling most tasks on a landy. I have been the grateful recipient of a few gifts from friends and spent a while buying some half decent bits and pieces:

compressor
Spot Blaster
Paint sprayer
Breaker Bars
1/2" socket set
Grips galore
mulgrips
Sealant gun
the list goes on...

What is on your "must buy" list of tools that you feel you simply must have to do justice to your pride and joy?

LOL!

Well as you have a nice garage I may well strip the transfer box there and see exactly how it comes apart. If only to get to the main bits that wear but from memory it was a good box. It all depends on gearing my 1.2 tranny box may be fine but we will see it wouldn't hurt to get some more oomph instead of lowering the gearing. Jai

Club hammer, torque wrench, hub spanner and some decent chisels. Jai

Aha! bought some chisels today.. have the club hammer... havetorque bars rather than a wrench (apparently ideal for a windy gun). But the hub spanner... you have a hub socket thingy I have seen before... what advantage the spanner?

Chris, anyone that owns a Land Rover will need welding gear at some point. source one now and get some practice in before you need it. Good item to have on your tools list and soon pays for itself.

I must give my old landy a birthday soon

Ive just started to get a harsh vibration at 60/65mph but as yet cannot rule out wheels tyres so will sort them out first especially as i have a weird combo of tyres ect. A trip to keith blane trailers needed for that then ill check all my wheel bearings (i love doin em! Not!) them look at propshafts ect

Check steering ball joints and replace steering damper and any worn parts

Drain all the oils and Slick 50 engine and mollyslip the rest which is all bar gearbox. Loads of work to do but will be fun aye!

I know this is like asking for rocking horse ****e but has anyone got any forward control 2b rims they want to sell me. I have one but really need another and ideally one more for a spare Jai
