WEL WELL WHOEVER SAID THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BARGAIN RR CLASSIC EH?
needs the offside sill doing, most brake pipes as one split on the ramps and ****ed brake fluid on the exhaust, luckily not hot so no flames.....
couple of odds n sods, so all in pretty ****, will see how much to get all the work done see if its worth it as it runs more or less fine on petrol (lpg a job for another day)
any suggestions of where to get work done fairly cheap as im pretty crap and have no time with work n kids etc.
cheers b
Disco52 - Welcome to the madhouse Owning a Landrover is about spending the time fixing them as well as driving them.
Does your RRC have ABS? I replaced ALL the brake pipes on mine, not really a difficult job just a bit fiddly and time consuming in places, then of course there was bleeding the system, what a pain.
Rotted sills - pretty common, normally easy to patch. I'll bet you there is a load of rusted out metal where you can't see it.
All in all, it doesn't sound too bad. If you want to learn how to do these things for yourself, you will save a fortune, I don't mind showing you some bits and pieces. As for the thing with kids, I can see what you're saying bu tit occurs to me most young boys have some insatiable fascination for Landys especially if they are being taken to bits to fix 'em - take the opportunity to teach em about how cars work, how to use tools properly and safely - there is a lesson in even the simplest repairs.
