Dunno its beyond me what people try and sell on there. I saw a range rover classic chassis and ID nothing else just reg and chassis for a G reg £500 buy it now

MAD!

My detroit axle cost me £1 for a salisbury axle, (long drive tho)

£173 for the diff itself I think or there abouts and a fair bit of work. Driving my 90 today well worth it!!! I remember it turning up while away on a works **** up w/e gutted seriously considered driving home from Nottingham to fit it but sense and free booze prevailed!

Thinking of fitting front and back to the rangy. So if you see any cheap ones then let me know. Also is it worth going to 24spline shafts?

I got mine in the barn so will start stripping it down this week.

trutrac front detroit or kaiser locker rear.

lockers defo 24 spline ideally ashcroft £££££ but they are guranteed not to wreck your weekend and if they do you get a new set!.

front end is a hard one.

depending on year of manuracturer you have

Veh Diff CV inner CV Outter

RRC 10 32 10 Stub shaft
RRC 10 23 10 Stub shaft
RRC 24 32 One piece CV 24 drive flange

90/110 10 23 One piece CV 24 drive flange
Defender 24 32 One piece CV 24 drive flange

These are out the box options above none are amazing 245 is better than 10 the shaft dia is somthing like 30% bigger. The best inner CV is 23 spline as fitted to a 'few' RRC in certain years and all Pre 300 tdi Defenders/90/110's.

The best available is 24 diff end 23 cv inner with a cv and outter shaft one piece 24 spline drive member for the front but minimum thats ashcroft shafts.

simply there is no cheap way to get a strong front setup. either run with std weaker cv inners or pay loada wonga

Spitfiremk1uk on here has one (my bro) seemed to work pretty damn good today axle twisters up an incline maybe 5 axle twisters in a row bith of us just drove up 1st low he had 225 75 R16's or somthing similar to that size BF AT's attached to a tank Aka his disco.

I think he was keeping an eye on it as it twangs a wee bit but changed oil and seems ok. Much more twangy/noisier seems to unload and twag the back end (crap desription I know but can't think of a better description) much more noise feel than my detroit for sure might get the odd noise from mine every now and then but very quiet and not noticable at all but the kaiser locker seem very good for the money.

Must add twangs on road cornering hard more noticable when driven hard i think. but it did it on me a few times driving his motor normally on the road.

I am running a viscous centre diff a kiaser locker in the rear and a torson T1 type torque biasing in the front of my disco.

The rear kiaser locker has never failed to lock but after reversing a tight corner and then driving away it can sometimes give an almighty twang that sounds like a half shaft snapping. I suspect it is to do with the centre diff being viscous controlled and taking the torque away from the rear axle then re applying it. Anyway. I wouldnt recomend it to a pure on tarmac car. Off road faultless though.

I think ashcroft have stopped selling the kaiser now.
They also stopped selling the detroit rover option. The rover axle detroit lockers starting getting a bad rep with competitors because production went to china from the usa and never had the same quality or reputation since.

Road cars use the ATB types
Off road use air lockers like ashcroft or ARB.

Anything in between is a compromise. I dont mind having the capability and putting up with the odd twang. For others it would be a major problem.

Where are you going. Have you done the lanes near clavering. Xmas laning sounds interesting:bounce:

Will probably be around Hitchen luton way do my bit and make sure the lanes are open and legal and have been used found a few more that I knew of but will check them out.

One I drove years back and seems to have been blocked off now.

Local really cos the pub is calling after!
