all i have is the abs light on dash srs light too they go off and i have nothing else lighting up no revs nothing i have checked the fuse under drivers seat its working ok ile go and check fuses under bonnet and let u know if i find anything else thanks for all ur support richard

ABS/TC Lights are fed from the ABS ECU and the SRS Light is from the SRS ECU I believe...all other lamps are from the BeCM and via Fuse 1 I believe....as Wammers says, chase the loom and inspect.

could it be that my mate who said he could fit these fog lights without going through becm i have spoken to him he said he brought two power cables from the lights and the black cables went to earth on the body he then said he powered the up using the batter power from the radio feed so when he tried the switch which he brought and the lights went off on the dash he has later told me that it happend before and the fuse1 had blown so he changed it now this has happened ?

First rule of P38's, do not mess with the electrics.

The prime suspect is defiantly the wiring mods - as you state he had the problem with Fuse 1 after doing his Foglight fitting...so I can only surmise this is the prime cause.

The correct way to fit fog lamps is to switch them through the BeCM using the correct dash switch and activating the option using diagnostics....

The P38 is a complex electrical beast and many circuits are monitored for loads and failures through the BeCM....any mods without knowing which circuits you are splicing into can have disastrous effects.

10 amps won't run the bloody fog lamps alone never mind everything else it feeds. He is a prat.

burning the wiring before the fuse, I would shoot him, but thats me:rolleyes:

would changing the loom at the driver side sort it has i have taken everything out radio i have even inspected the wires for damage any surgestions once again thanks for all your help lads

after further investigation we have power to pins 4and 14 after miss reading plug numbers i was checking earth pins dim wit so i asume it could be my clocks that have taken the brunt of power and blow ?the fuel gauge also pulsates ?

where the loom sits its full of water ?

There is your problem BECM is possibly damp. Other than the two power feeds on 4 and 14 everything else is fed from that. Look for the source of the water cure it, dry everything out. BECM maybe salvageable and maybe not.

:eek::eek::eek:

Errr....Um....

Taste it..!!!

Bitter sweet is coolant most commonly from the Heater Matrix O Rings, clear tasting is most likely rain water from the Pollen Filter housing(s) or Sun Roof Drains!

Dry it out, find the leak, as Wammers says cure it, and it wouldn't hurt if the BeCM has got damp to remove it and put it in the airing cupboard for a few days to try and dry it out!
