Hi guys hope you are ok, need your help

When I first bought my rangerover about 1 month ago it had air suspension fault anyway got fault code cleared and put recon pump on perfect bags inflated and deflated perfect whenever you wanted, left in high mode overnight next day still up ok etc been fine no hearing of leaks etc only ever driving for half hour max though but allways fine any way today went to birmingham (140 mile) trip and on the way there about 120 miles in to trip. all lights came on near mode selector and it froze in high mode and light came on on dash (picture when in 4+4mode

Got to birmingham and parked for show and when returned still in that position had not dropped etc until about 20 miles into return trip eas fault then came up on dash and went onto its bump stops stayed there since!
is my pump knackered again? whats causing this? any ideas on anything else? help suggestions please?

When you got your first EAS fault driving, did you get any SLOW: 35MPH MAX message?? I guess you did with the second fault as you are now on the bump stops. Usually when you get an EAS Fault without the slow message and your not on the bump stops its something like a dodgy height sensor. As you are now on the bump stops with a hard fault this can ONLY be reset with a diagnostic computer.

I suggest you take it to a good independent specialist and have them read the fault codes and see what they are. Then either post back here with the faults or ask the garage to fix the problem. Either way, you will need to get the problem rectified as every time you get a hard EAS fault you WILL need to goto someone with diagnostic equipment to reset it.

It's not always something really expensive to fix either, you could ask your local independant LR specialist to read the code and then supply you the parts to fix it yourself.
I too really like this feature as it gives you the best of both worlds, a more stable car for the motorway and the height you need to go off-road. When I had a fault on my EAS my local specialists diagnosed a sticking solenoid and a service kit with new seals was all that was needed. If I didn't want all the creature comforts and features of this car I would have bought a Defender!!

Everybody thinks air suspension it will cost big bucks, but if air suspension was so **** why do 85% of lorries use it. The main problem with P 38 suspension is the brain is a bit fancy and tries to do to many things.Buy or make a recovery air bag blow up jig , i used HGV tyre extensions on the air bag pipes and it held up for 2weeks till i could get it fixed.

spot on mate the eas isnt sh*t , its more likely muppet garage`s playing with something they know sod all about    .
rick.

The air suspension is definitely not sh** ........ but it is overly complicated and always waits till you are a 1000 mile from home before it decides to take a day off.

Its a personal thing I reckon ..... Ive fitted a manual setup, disconnected all the electronics and blow the bags up with an airline. It stays at the height I want it too (hate the low rider look) and I no longer have daily arguments with the EAS ......... just have to figure out howto do the same with my girl friend lol

jh :)

I agree with you guys above, as I too had trouble in the past, ended up rebuilding the compressor, & valve-block, so I made my own manual override system, & its it place permanently, so if there's any trouble in the future, its simply pumped up with a tyre pump!!
Bought myself a Rovacom & every now & then its hooked up for a checkup!!

hi taken my car to get plugged in, anyway at first read came up with fault with pressure switch they then tried to reset and would not , they said it stopped cummunicating with car computer anyway 240 pounds! later after much time spent diagnosing they said it is now decided to start working and cannot find any fault codes now and expect it to be fuse box problem and or ecu for suspension either way about 400 each supplied and fitted but they cannot guarentee that it is even these what do i do guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! am going to just be waiting for it to come back

They charged you £240, told you there was nothing wrong and then sent you on your way?!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

How on earth did they justify £240 to you?! Did they fit any new parts or something?? From your post I don't think they did but I really hope you haven't paid the £240 yet because I know I wouldn't. Who are these people, name and shame!!

I suggest that you try and find another good independent or drop a mail to Dennis at rover-renovations.com - goto the site and click on the Contact Us link. He is like the EAS god and will be able to help you out further if you want to try and sort the problem yourself.

I agree that 240 is an absolutely insane amount of money for a reset or even a diagnosis. You really should demand or insist on not paying. Does not sound like they really did anything but had trouble using their own diagnostic equipment. No need to pay that much money when there is a free EAS reset solution.

The dash display shows a different message pattern for an actual EAS fault versus the EAS simple being turned off by a blown fuse. If the EAS is without power, the Dash display will simply state "Slow 35 MPH MAX" and that is it. If the EAS is actually in fault mode, the dash will alternate flash "Slow 35 MPH MAX" and "EAS Fault". The beeping will alternate as well when the dash alternates messages if the EAS is actually in fault mode.

If you are actually in fault mode, then I would say you have a leaky bag/corner or a height sensor that is going bad.

If the power has been lost at the EAS C117 connector then the problem does not require a diagnostoc tool but rather some electrical work. (I doubt it is a power problem)

i recently had mine checked over the same as above for £40..........

Most landy independents charge about £40 for a plug in, the one i use spent a hour checking out the ride height sensors and air bags for leaks before telling me the pump was U/S.They offered free advise and said when you fix your pump they would reset for me,all this for the £35 plug in fee.

after much arguing i paid 100 pounds, they say they spent time checking much electrics due to the computer not cummunicating with car anymore anyway the car susoension is now up and working but they have told me they do not know if it will go wrong again so i am paranoid they say it could be ecu or fuse box?!!

also on way home i noticed a loss of power have checked under bonnet and found a hose split i believe its a breather, the one is like a l shape goes from top of left hand side rocker cover to side of bit that says 4.6 landrover at top of engine would this be the cause i hope this one is going to be simple........

what should i do with my car i love it and do not mind maintainence in general or even the running costs but if she is going to be costing me hundreds in repairs i cannot put up with this mentally and financially!
thinking of selling any advice.
