Oh dear, shopping when you have no idea is not good :(:(

First thing I searched for (please note I did search :p) was a steering guard.

Found a few, they say they have recovery points, does these mean I dont need the Jate things.

And wont it get in the way of the holes where the jack goes :confused::confused:

This is an example of one, is this what you meant

It helps to have a shackle to put in the recovery eyes and it wont cover the holes they are further forward. Steel is better imo :)

4-5 litres of vodka 200 fags

Not sure about the Vodka but the fags are already on the list :D :D Wonder if 200 is enough though, I smoke more when I am stressed and I am stressed just making the list :rolleyes::D Haven't really considered the implications of having to CAMP

Will depend on the guard you get but often the eyes are small and might wear the rope. Or you might not be able to untie it. So carry a shackle to put inthe eye and tie the rope to.

OK, understand that bit

You will be a ble to remove the pin after recovery if the rope is too tight to undo:)[/quote]

Sorry  where did the pin come from, from the first bit I had a shackle and an eye and I tied the rope to it. Lost again

Forget that, found a picture and the pin goes in the shackle. How many tonnes should the shackle be, there are a few different ones

the 6 1/2 ton would be the only one i could get the eye of the rope into for me. and if you need to tie the rope, yer wanna use a cats paw for ease of untying ;)

Well one item from the list is sorted.

Getting a light bar and lights from Warrior and going down to nrgserv to fit it. Of course he is making me fit it myself :rolleyes: as it is good for me apparently. I can wire a trailer but vehicles are beyond me. So if you see a Defender with the spot lights flashing along with the indicators, just wave, it will be me.

Good on nrq it is good to practice mechanics, ya never know when yu might need em. If yer can wire a trailer yu is doing loads better than some ladies my doris wont even do her own tyres. I hope I sent you a pic of steering guard, never sure with puter stuff :)

Yes you did, missed it, thank you :D

I only learned to wire trailers as the manufacturers do such a **** job, all its takes is the horses to start jumping around on the ramps and such like and it would knock connections outs. Every time I bought a trailer I would completely re-wire it to stop that happening and make it easy to find and fix the fault when it did. But there were only 7 colours and I have a sheet showing what they are all for

Everyone starts somewhere, I dint know anything about land rovers, between me and my mates we have done most things twice, only thing we ain't done is a clutch, but I broke mine last week and my new hd arrived today so that's gona be that ticked off the list,

Oh and my tool kit has grown from a few spanners and sockets to welders and air tools and steel pipe bender ect, in about 12 months

 I dont know whether that makes me feel better or not. My Landy started out with a job to do, I've a feeling its going to become a hobby in itself.

My staff already think I am odd having horses, should see their faces when I say I am spending the weekend mending a landy or planning on going off roading.
